PADAK's Build Thread

I've been a member here for 2 years I think. I joined before I purchased my first 3rd gen just to see everything and get some ideas.

I purchased my first 3rd Gen last summer, and held off on starting a thread because I am going things SLOWLY, and hopefully the RIGHT way.

Any how, I traded a Remington hunting Rifle for my car, it was a roller, with what looked to be a decent body.

Pics and progress updates to follow

Re: PADAK's Build Thread

The only difference between the outside/body from last summer till this summer is a white hood from an 88 GTA. I am focusing mostly on Interior and motor first.

Motor is on a stand being rebuilt, slowly. Interior updates are about to follow in next post.

Re: PADAK's Build Thread

Interior was ripped to shreds, carpet a mess, and plastics all beat up.

I have pulled the seats, carpet, and plastics out:

Re: PADAK's Build Thread

The next thing I did was while I had all the plastics pulled out, I purchased some plastikote plastic paint. I spray painted all the plastics from beat up gray, to nice looking black. This saved me some money, I seen people selling interior plastics from 300-500.

Motor work, not much done. Motor is all broken down on a stand, while I painted the block and heads, don't have great pictures of it though.

Re: PADAK's Build Thread

Last night after work, I scored some good deals, had to travel 3 hour round trip but it was worth it.

I got all the heater/AC parts missing from mine, the wiper motor that is missing from mine, a 4th gen console AND a 4th Gen wing from a WS6 Trans Am. All for $200

I'll toss the pics up when I get home from work today!

Well, if by progress you mean lighter wallet, YES! If you mean progress by the looks of the car, doesn't feel like it

Also, isn't the saying, we're never done?

Re: PADAK's Build Thread

I finally have EVERYTHING needed for the interior of the car. The last thing I needed was a floor pan for the drivers side. Was going to buy one new, but kept holding out hope I could find one local.

Well, it was a 4 hour (round trip) but I scored a complete floor from a wrecked Camaro. It's in GREAT shape, and got it for a steal... $200 and gave my friend $60 for gas to haul it.

Re: PADAK's Build Thread

I will try to get a better picture, but it's stored and locked away in the shed for the winter, don't have a garage to work on it, so will have to wait until winter is over. Good new is, I can save $$ to rent the welder.

Re: PADAK's Build Thread

GREAT score on that floor! It really sucks the aftermarket pans don't have the rails with the studs for the seats to bolt to. The metal on that looks awesome.

Thanks, I was so excited. I had to wait about a month or more for the guy to cut it out, WELL worth the wait. The metal is in GREAT condition.. that one spot that looks all dirty it just that, pieces left from the carpet. I cleaned it up before I stored it away for the winter.

Now like I said, once the weather gets warm time to rent a welder and have at it.

Yes, except when I got mine it had (not sure if stock) power bulge hood, which I still have and the wrap around spoiler which is falling apart and going to be replaced with 4th gen.

I like yours by the way, still not sure what exact color I want to paint, and if I want to do solid or paint the ground effects different.

I think the GM cyber gray would look great on the ground effects
