Free Dyno Tuning Services Offered...

All,

If anyone is interested in getting some free or highly discounted rates on chassis dyno tuning for your F-Body, please contact me.

My company, Classic GT Motorsports owns an Dyno Dynamics 450 chassis dyno and am all setup for chip burning and custom steady state tuning for 3rd Gen F-Body cars. I currently am in the process of tuning and modifying my 89 Iroc-Z.

I would like to offer one free tuning session on our dyno for 3rd or 4th gen Camaro owners with the understanding that we can work together to help develop sound steady state and full pull tuning methods.

I run the tuning shop part time/evening and weekends. Please give me a shout if you are interested in learning about your car and having some fun with a chassis dyno.

We have to pay for this thing, so I can’t offer unlimited free tuning, sorry L. But if you are willing to work with me and help me clime up the learning curve on the specifics dyno tuning these cars, then I can offer free dyno time to you….

Thanks so much!

Dyno Rates...

We charge $65 for the 1st hour ( add $10 with wide band O2 use) and $60 for the 2nd hour, $55 for hours 3 to 7 or $450 for an 8 hour day. These rates are include dyno setup and a dyno operator with the customer doing the tuning work. If we tune the car then full tuning/upgrades rates start at $80 per hour.

Check out our web site for all the details....

www.classicgtmotorsports.com

I will have to wait and see just how many people take me up on the offer. I just picked up my Camaro a few months ago and have been fixing all the mistakes others have made over the years. It is now at the point where I have started to dig into the software tuning and I have purchased all the hardware/software required to edit bin files and burn new proms. We have worked with a few aftermarket EFI systems, and this is my 1st real crack at a factory GM system. For EFI tuning, having a steady state load cell dyno is the way to go (lucky I own oneJ).

My goal over the next year is to specialize in L98, LT1, LS1 and LS2 tuning. This why I need all the dyno seat time I can afford at this point. Most of our business is from word of mouth, so it is very important to me to make contacts and keep customers happy with our work.

Next year I plan on adding a super charger to my Iroc. That is when things will really get fun!

I'd like to get together with you. I use to live in Manassas, but then moved to Dale City / Woodbridge last year. My Camaro might be easier or just different. It's primitive: 4 barrel and HEI ignition. It could use some tuning just to find its "right" spot. You're in a great location for me and your rates look very reasonable.

Offer Still Good

All,

Thanks for the posting a response, and yes, I am still offering one free dyno tuning session for EFI cars or modified carb cars.

I would also like to consider starting a dyno tuning club where members would pay yearly dues to support the dyno operations. The club meetings would revolve around tuning member’s cars or bringing in other cars for a reduced hourly rate.

We could run engine build up experiments to find out what part combos make the most power and the best methods of tuning the ECU. We also can orginize club dyno days for other local area clubs.

So if you are interested in starting a dyno tuning club in the Northern VA area or just want to get a few hours of dyno time in, please let me know.

I am taking appointments at my garage in Nokesville, VA for Saturday or Sunday tuning sessions or a few week day nights (from 5 to 8 pm). Please e-mail me at classicgtmotorsports@yahoo.com

Let me know details about your car (Year, ECU, Mods) and what your goals are for the tuning session.

Regards,
Nate Tracy

Not sure about the club or whatever, but I'll be finishing my combo by the end of this month, if you have some seat time by then I might make the drive from VB.

All,
Thanks for all the interest and e-mails on this post. I would still like to follow up with a few of you that have yet to get on the dyno, so please e-mail me at classicgtmotorsports@yahoo.com or visit Home Page for Classic GT Motorsports; Virginia's Classic Car Restoration Shop

We (Classic GT Motorsports), are moving into a new 3700 sq. ft. Shop located at 9065 Jerry’s Circle in Manassas, VA. Although all makes and models are welcome, our shop will be specialized in performance upgrades and chassis dyno tuning for Chevys.

We will have the capability of tuning carbureted, TBI, TPI, LT1, LS1 setups as well as after market EFI systems. You will be surprised how “too much” or “too little” fuel and spark can affect your dyno and track numbers.

A few weeks ago we had a big block 69 Camaro on the dyno that was running an average AFR of 14.8 at WOT! The start baseline for the car came in at 420 HP at the wheels. A few hours later (and many jet changes), we got the car down to 13.0 average AFR at WOT with a peak of 496 HP. So for just a few hours on the dyno, we “found” 76 HP for the customer!

As soon as we are “moved” into the new shop in Manassas, we will be having a “Grand Opening” day on a Saturday. During the grand opening, we will be offering free dyno runs and free food and drink! I will be posting the date and times of Classic GT Motorsports Grand Opening very soon.

PS,
I got my 89 Iroc put back together last nigh with an LT4 Hot Cam, Vortec heads, SDPC intake, SPL runners, TCI 700R4, Vigilante 2400 stall. We ran a 1st pass on the dyno and came in at 255 HP with 310 Ft Lb of torque with a stock L98 $6E prom burn. AFR was slightly rich at 12.1, so I think I can make improvements and hit by goal of 265 HP.

I got my emissions test coming up in a couple weeks. Maybe we can get things cleaned up a little. After passing, we can look for a few more horses. I'll give you a phone call at the shop and we can work things out.

Sounds good. We will ensure your are running as close to 14.7 as we can for the emissions test under light loads. We hope to be moving the dyno to the new shop next week. Give me a call.
