Pennsylvania Reintroduces Bill to Ban the Use of Aftermarket Exhaust Systems
Legislation (H.B. 1330) that would effectively prohibit the use of exhaust systems other than a “factory-installed muffler” or a “muffler meeting factory specifications” has been reintroduced in the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives by Representative Michael K. Hanna (Phone: 717/772-2283, Fax: 717/787-4137). The bill has been referred to the House Transportation Committee.

H.B. 1330 ignores the fact that aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to make vehicles run more efficiently without increasing emissions.
H.B. 1330 fails to recognize that aftermarket exhaust systems offer increased performance and utility.
H.B. 1330 would make it nearly impossible for hobbyists to replace factory exhaust systems with more durable, better performing options.
H.B. 1330 perpetuates the erroneous assumption that enthusiasts who equip their vehicles with modified exhaust systems are involved in illegal street racing.
Call or Fax the members of the House Transportation Committee in Harrisburg (See List Below) today to oppose this legislation. This bill unfairly tramples on the rights of vehicle enthusiasts in Pennsylvania.

I'll be damn if I'll remove the headers, and complete exhaust on either cars.
These idiots in office come up with these bills on occassion, and they must be squelched immedietely.
I have heard from fello car lovers in other states that some legislators believe cars should be left totally stock, and be replaced by "ONLY" factory, or factory approved equipment.
The fight that won it was due to the fact that the many aftermarket companies like Edelbrock, Hooker, Mr. Gasket, and associated companies said that was illegal, and would put them out of business. They also proved that their products, as you stated, improve performance, increase fuel milage, and most of the time decrease emmissions.

I urge all to contact their state legislators on not going this route, and thus cripple small business, retard the thinking minds of engineers, and keeping our historic history of the American automobile running better than when it rolled off the factory production line.
Government need not get involved in anything that hinders, or handcuffs inovations, or inventions. Also, the preservation of aftermarket products go hand-in-hand with this philosphy.
Believe it or not, they actually will listen. That is their job. That is how the bill got introduced in the first place by people complaining to their representatives that they don't like loud mufflers and think they encourage street racing. The general public has no clue the merits a quality aftermarket exhaust provides. That is why it is important to call and educate them. And if they see that there is enough creditable opposition to the bill it is their responsibility to vote with the public's interest.
I agree with Nick. Politicians do whatever they think will make their constituents happy enough to vote them back into office. If a large number of people call their reps and oppose this Bill, then the reps will know that passing it means potentially alienating the voters. So yes, they will listen, and to kill the Bill, you should call them. If you don't call, others who support the measure might, and then it will be a law, and then you'll be screwed.
