If you’re still looking for some I have a pair that I pulled off my ’83 TA (416’s, it was running fine at the time, a 8’ in diameter oak tree fell on it so I parted it out).

I started cleaning them up (basically soaked them in a parts washer for a while) but didn’t get to any real disassembly before the project took a different turn. I was planning on tearing then down, putting some fresh springs and stem seals and running them.

Donno… I think I’d get $100 or $150 for the pair turning them in as cores up at the shop, so $100 sound good?

Not to be a **** or trying to dog on your sale at all, but this seems like flawed logic as you can pick up a complete 305 for $100, heads and all. Being that you said you were replacing the springs and seals, I cant imagine them being cleaned or worked.

I picked up my spare set of 416s for under $35

Sorry, I was trying to be reasonable… I know that when I was trying to find them around here (DC Metro area), no one wanted to part with them at all and they were going for about 2x that on ebay. The only thing that I remember finding locally was a set of later 305 castings, I believe they were swirl ports, but they were absolute junk, you could move the valves in the valve guides with the heads assembled/they came out of a ’92 caprice with “probably over 300K miles” according to the owner and he wanted $250.

FWIW, I checked and the cores are worth $75/each to Recon, and $120/each to Moore’s and American Cylinder head, and these heads aren’t quite ready to be cores.

Huh… I just bought an ’87 TA over the weekend… I wonder what castings an ’87 305 will have? Might be worth a cheap quick swap.
