Lost 88 GTA Trans Am

I'm looking for my old 88 GTA Trans Am CUSTOM WIDE BODY - White with tan cloth interior

Look at the link below for car photos.

Chuck Swick from Bond Motor Car Company in Columbus, Ohio bought the GTA from me in 12/1989.

Last Registered in Minnesota in 1999 based on CarFax records.

Custom Wide Body GTA Trans Am that I built in 1988 Glen Mills, PA. I sold the GTA at a Kruse Custom Auto Auction in Miami, Florida to Chuck Swick from Bond Motor Car Company in 12/1989, he took the car back to his home in Columbus, Ohio and he used it personaly. Chuck sold the car at his dealership in Ohio a year or so later. I have contacted Chuck and he is trying to find the information on who he sold GTA to. Last Registered in Minnesota in 1999 based on CarFax records. I have not found records past 1999.

Let me know if anyone has seen it. I may be interested in buying it back.

Sorry I can't help locate it, but best of luck to you in finding it. It's a sweet car! And are those widened GTA wheels, or something else?

Thanks Mike,

Of all the cars I've had in the past this one is the one I wonder about. It was the one that I put the most work into. I had a shop back in 1988 and did all the work in house. My friends thought I'd lost my mide cutting the quarters off a new GTA with 200 miles on it. We got the car done in only 10 days start to finish.

I'm just now really getting the bug to search for it. I'm sure I'll track it down. Just wondering what condition it will be in when I do find it??

About the wheels:
I had the wheels custom made for me. Nothing off the shelf worked due to the crazy off set the new wheel needed. They are Centerline Champ 500 wheels. 16x10 front and 16x12 rear. Tires were Michelin 315-40-16. That was a crazy set up back in 1988.

Thanks again, if you think of a good way to help find it drop me a line.

Re: Lost 88 GTA Trans Am

I know exactly what you are going through. I had a blue 1987 Trans Am I sold a few years ago to a member on here and I have no idea what happened to the car. I also had a 2002 Firehawk Trans Am I sold to a dealership in 2005. I'd love to buy either one of them back.

Sadly that isn't likely to happen. Even If I could find them, I don't have the money for either. Though depending on the condition of the blue 1987 car I could probably raise the cash. The Firehawk would probably fetch too much money unless it was ragged out crap by now.

Thank you very much for the lead. This one is not the one but ya never know. I had him send me a couple pictures of it.

It looks like an early production 87 GTA since it has square outside mirrors. I rented a GTA from Hertz or Budget Rent a Car in Fort Lauderdale back in 1987 that had the same mirrors on it.

Thanks again for looking out for me!!

Those are the crappy looking paddle mirrors. Rare options to be sure. Not desirable, but rare.

Re: Lost 88 GTA Trans Am

Hello,

No worries, it looks like another kit from back in the 80s. Not factory for sure. Enjoy your ride!!!!
