SIU starting Auto Tech Bachelors Program in Chicago
Friday is the official announcement that will probably get a new paper or 2 out, but Southern Illinois University will be bringing there Bachelors of Science in Automotive Technology to Truman College on Chicago's northside (Broadway and Wilson).
The classes will start this Fall 2007, and will be weekend only classes. The current proposal is Saturday and Sunday from 8am to about 3 pm every other weekend. They will be offering the same auto tech classes they offer at SIU itself and will be taught by SIU instructors.
As for the 300 and 400 level Gen Eds, SIU will be working heavily with Northeastern. When some one fulfills the requirements for the Bachelors degree they will be able to graduate from SIU as if they had traveled down state.
So for any of you who wanted to get your Bachelors without the hassle of traveling heres your chance, I know I am going to go for it now that I have my Associates.
And before anyone asks about my credability I teach Auto Tech classes at Truman and have met the people from SIU when they told us we were getting the programs and not Kennedy King College.
