I'm down in Madison for school.
EDIT: Saukville is no where near Madison. Sauk Prairie is though
Since i started this posting we have yet to arrange a meeting of any sort club wise. there is a car show every year at NWTC that i beleive i have seen a few attend. maybe this is the year someone picks up the pace and gets something going. there once was an idea in a car lot or service garage lot???? anybody know anything more about that. its simple really find a location in central north south wisconsin thats vacant and big enough to hold 30 cars or so to start out. and go from there.
Welcome man. Do you happen to be the one I talked to at the Antigo car show a few weeks back? It was a purple Camaro with black strips. There was also a orange one too I think.
Milwaukee... Wife just bought me, for an early anniversary present, a 84 Berlinetta with 47000 miles on the clock. Needs some work, but runs and drives great.
If anyone in the Milwaukee area (or near by) wants to go racing, there will be another SCCA autocross event at Miller Park on Sunday September, 21. If you want to race competitively, learn better car control skills, meet other people that like to go fast, or simply want to watch as others are terrorizing the course check out the link below. http://www.scca-milwaukee.org/Solo/2008/08sched.htm
You can see a schedule of when registration starts, when tech ends, what time racing begins and all that jazz at the bottom of the link. However, if you want to actually participate in all the fun, you can find admission prices at the bottom of the link. If you just want to come and watch, it is free. All you have to do is sign a waiver (it pretty much says you agree not to do anything stupid) and then you receive a wrist band admitting you to all the fun.
Pictures of me racing can be seen in my garage, or you can check out two of my videos at the below link. They are both from outside the car where many of the spectators sit so you can get an idea of the area you can see.
They are called "Big sweeper," and "Big Sweeper 2." They should be right on top. http://myscca.com/community/video/video.do
In case anyone is wondering, you can see further than what is shown in the videos... the video just wasn't zoomed in at all.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to post here or send me a message.
Mike
If anyone shows up, I'll be in the dark red IROC-Z #305 STX.

I bought my Camaro from a guy who lives in Appleton just this summer. There is a guy who owns a nice red ram-air Trans Am from Ripon. I'm sure there are a few more around.
yeah i think i have a pic of your car from dropfest. So im from the wausau area i have a 87 irocz z28 then there is the 89 firebird formula the 83 beast firebird then the 92 rs 25th camaro 5speed and 350 swap and the 2nd gen 79 z28 were always looking for more 3rd gens to get together before the snow flys.
i would be willing to. i have sold my 91 formula to my best friend who would come. but now i got a 4th gen TA. so if you guys would let me come along....

Well depending on what happens with the group here at least we should meet up sometime. I can't go far with my car as it is for millage reasons so wausau isn't to bad of a drive for me.
If there was something going on elsewhere in the state I wouldn't mind showing up to something but probably without the Camaro.
There are three bolts that bolt the torque arm to the transmission. The top one is stripped. If I can somehow get the same sized tap in there and try to clean up the threads, hopefully it will hold. The bolt screws in, it just won't get really tight. We'll see how motivated I feel when I go home for the weekend (Sept 20th). I'd like to fix it so I could bring it back to school next spring (granted I find space to park it somewhere)
Also, I've got a pair of Hooker 2210 long tubes for sale. Selling them for a buddy. They are practically brand new. Only half of the paint is burnt off if I recall correctly. They are in Stevens Point right now. I can bring them back to Madison with me if needed.

Look into a product called Helicoil. Just read about it in the latest CarCraft issue. Supposedly it makes the threads stronger then they originally were. I have a stripped bolt hole I might try it on but please let us know about the product if you use it.

Let's face it, you're gonna half to drop the tranny out to get it fixed right. There's just not enough room to do anything with it up in the tranny tunnel. Besides, it's aluminum - if it doesn't tighten it's stripped, and chasing the threads won't help you I'm afraid.

This I figured to be true. Maybe I will pull the tranny. We'll see.

Yes I've heard of a Helicoil. I will need the ability to drill out the hole, which is only an option if I remove the transmission.
i live in antioch which is on the border of wisconsin and illinois but i have property in iola an i think we should get this going, i have an 89 and a 67. i think it would be sweet to get this thing rollin
I'm going to Waukesha (of all places) in November (of all times), staying one week. I was thinking it could be nice to meet some local car guys (if you haven't gone into hibernation by then). I don't know yet how busy I'll be but I guess I'll have evenings off.
Maybe someone also happens to know about a cheap '79 or older (anything newer gets heavily taxed over here) Camaro or something I could look at and consider getting it on a boat over here.
Maybe next year?
If it involves twisty roads I am definitely in!

Anyone know how to set-up a website better, the one I put together is a sad idea of a website because I'm out of space to store more pictures on lycos. From this point I'll have to start paying for more space.
As mentioned before there is no structured club of any sort in this area. I'd be willing to use my current website and connections to help with parts / labor / location
