My trans am is in storage and I would love to finally get together this spring for a meeting of some kind.... I am In the janesville area and am open to suggestions....
__________________ lots of 4th gen stuff installed!
If we do something, we should extend it to include all F-bodies. My dad knows some guys with some neat 1st and 2nd gen camaros, and I know a couple people with some very quick 4th gens.
Edit:
I just realized that I don't really know anyone that owns a 3rd gen... we need to get going and do this in the spring!

From what I see, looking like may 31st, would work good
It's a saturday, open from 3 - 10pm and only the jr's are running that day.
otherwise
July 20 Sun Club Day/Fun Racing SWAP MEET 8am - 5pm
That day would be fun too with the swap meet
That is actually the 2008 schedule. In 2009, May 31 is on Sunday. Fortunately my autocross event is on May 24 so I will be able to make it to the Grove if it is on 31... granted my car doesn't decide to crap out on me.
Would a swap meet be that good of a day to do this? It would be so busy then so we might not get as many runs...
I'm up for anywhere in SE WI....I'd like to see some of the nice thirdgens around here! I'm not up for show - my car isn't a showoff type...unless you dig primer!

I'm partial to the sleeper look... so that engine of yours hiding under primer equals a very kick a55 car in my book.
To me a car show is not all about having shiny paint and straight body panels. It's about the whole package, and like I said, your engine is quite the package.

Well it looks like there's plenty of interest anyone want to throw out some dates and we can get this rolling.
Like I said before late may or early june would work
I would say may 30th or june 6th
I e-mailed randy @ GLD to see if he had any schedule in the works
Before we toss up the idea of a car show we should all meet and see how everything goes.
----------
WOW... That randy guy is like lightning sent me an e-mail within 5 minutes
Said the schedule should be online within 2 weeks

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
Both those dates would work for me. I may be upgrading to a ported SLP intake so I'm looking forward to the drag racing. Since your setting up a day for drag racing, I'll post the schedule for autocrossing.
Anyone that wants to try autocross should check out the following link: http://scca-milwaukee.org/Solo/2009/09sched.htm. It has the season schedule, times of daily activities, prices, basic car classing (if there are questions, send me a pm of all your mods so I can tell you), and other info can be found by looking further into the website. Besides the Drivers School and the Divisionals, there is an extremely good chance I will be at all the races rain or shine. If you decide to show up, look for #305 STX... that's me. It shouldn't be hard since I am the only 3rd gen that ever shows up. If your going to go, shoot me a pm so I know to look for you.
Mike
I forgot, you need a SNELL M95 approved helmet in order to participate. They do offer loaner helmets, you just have to give them your drivers license as collateral. Yes, they do clean the loaner helmets.
Another thing to note is that WATCHING IS FREE! You don't have to pay a thing to walk around the paddock or through the grid and look at the cars. When you show up, there will be a person by the entrance but don't let him/her scare you off. lol. He/She is just there to have you sign a waiver saying the SCCA is not responsible for anything stupid you do and that you will obey the rules. Then they give you a wrist band and you are free to roam. Just don't park your car in the grid if you aren't competing.

I would love to do something, i'm 16, i live in New Berlin, and I have a 1988 Trans Am GTA Notchback 5.7L. Im kinda interested in doing that auto cross.....
Okay, Randy e-mailed me an 09 schedule before It's posted on their website.
Anyway It's in pdf format and it's too large to post up so If anyone wants a copy of the schedule pm me and I'll shoot it out so we can agree on a date.
Hi the names Nate. Milwaukee. And i would like to get together and see all the nice Third gens out there. Ive got a 91 Firebird being rebuilt and im planning on picking up another thirdgen for the summer.
I don't even have my car out of storage yet. I'm trying to get the last little tid bits together for my LS1 swap before the first SCCA autocross event on APRIL 19th.

Hmmmm....sounds like someone's building a "sleeper" of his own!! Gotta get together so I can see it when you're done!!
Oops... I meant LS1 brake swap, not the engine. Although my dad has a friend that knows a guy with an LS engine that he doesn't know what to do with. If I didn't have to worry about paying for college next year, that thing would be mine.
Even though my car is setup to turn, I would still love to see what my little 305 can do in the 1/4 mile.
There is something going on at Road America in the middle of april with open track time. I will have to find the dates and info. I'm in the green Bay area.
i'm a member of the supermileage club at ashwaubenon high school (green bay area for those who dont know) and we're planning on hosting a car show at the high school to help raise money for next years supermileage group. the date we are thinking about is may 30th, however it has not been confirmed yet. i would love to see anyone interested there. ill have my malibu there (pics in sig)
The Milwaukee region of the SCCA has their first autocross event on April 19 (about 2 weeks away). I'm also going to Third Gen Fest in Crete, IL on May 22 and 23, and then I have another autocross event on May 24 at Miller Park with the SCCA.
Anyone want to join me for any of it?
Mike

I will be going down for 3rd gen fest but don't know if im gonna do both days untill it gets a little closer i will let you know on here or BCM !
I'm thinking of driving out to Madison and joining the HotRod Power Tour when that is going on. There is also an autocross group based in Madison so I was thinking of going to some of their events as well.
I'm also planning on starting the power tour for the first couple of days but will probably take my fire-bird instead of the IROC. We did it in '04 and '05 and had a great time. Hope for good weather, June in Wisconsin can be just about anything weather-wise.
First off... I live by Stevens Point also. I dont have much to romp on but I would like to check ur camaro's out... Is there anything set in stone yet?
Second... Why cant I post in the parts for sale? I have a bunch of parts available. I want to sell TTOP bags...
Does anyone know why I cant list them?
Third... Im looking at the Power Tour also... I used to live in the MKE area and liked the one time I went with my buddy... Is anyone going to Jefferson Swap Meet?
I have to work Saturday, but I'll be at Jefferson on Sunday.
You can't post there because I think you need like 25 or 50 posts before your account is granted access to that feature.
The first Milwaukee region scca autocross event starts in about an hour. There is one other 3rdgen registered to race so far. A red 91 Z28... Is it one of you guys?

im doing the power tour again this year... love the sites for this year. i sold my third gen but will be doing it in my 67 camaro.... we should get a huge group together, its a blast!!
That other thirdgen was mine. I attended the school the day before, but did not feel well on Sunday. I'm looking forward to the next one though as I had a blast at the school. I must have done about 20 passes.

That's to bad you weren't feeling good, but if it makes you feel better, it wasn't that great of a day to compete. The cold temperatures during the first three runs was bad for anyone running slicks, then the run during the last two runs lead to a lot of off course excursions. Unfortunatly I almost spun out in both my wet runs because my tires are almost bald. I have a few videos of my runs that I'll try and figure out how to post on here. In my last dry run, I flat spoted my front tires because I locked them up so I'm in need of some fresh rubber for the next event.
I'm glad you had a blast, but don't expect 20 passes all the time. At a typical event you will get 6 runs unless there is bad weather in which case there is only 5 runs per person. It forces you to really get your car and prefered line dialed in fast. (I hope that didn't scare you away)
Do you remember who your instructor was on Saturday? I also noticed that on the pre-registration that you listed your class as unkown. Did you want/need help figuring that out? Did you call before registration ended on Sunday to get your money back since you didn't attend the event?
Mike

Yea, I understand the limited number of runs and I'm fine with that. The extra passes made it that much easier to become acquainted with it. I can't recall my instructor's name, but he was a really nice guy. He didn't have his car with him so I can't even pair him up with that. He mentioned something about an old 4 door toyota if that helps.
As for getting a refund, I didn't know I could. I'm not really upset over it, since I didn't pursue it. Oh well.
I didn't class my car, because I don't think it fits in to a class besides maybe prepared or modified if you're willing to bend the rules a little.
LS1 (a cam swap puts you in modified alone, maybe i could say i swapped every component and stay in mod?)
TKO 600 (Changing transmissions seems to be a no - no in anything other than prepared)
I also currently have too big of tires/wheels I believe. I have 17x10s all the way around with 265's up front and 285's in the back.
The rest of my mods aren't that out of the ordinary. Lot's of aftermarket pieces, sfc, rear control arms, panhard bar, torque arm, crossmember, aluminum driveshaft koni reds, eibach springs, LS1 brakes (front and back) etc.
I''m not too worried about competing, though I'm sure that it would be fun.

update: the date is locked in, may 30th. show time is 10am-2pm, registration starts at 8am. registration is $5 before the date of the show, $7 the day of. if youd like a registration form i can send you a copy.
Hello all.
New member here, though i have checked in on the site for years.
From Milwaukee, and though my IROC is not yet in driving condition, I'm looking forward to seeing the other 3rd gens out there... and driving mine sooner than later.
(getting laid off didn't help, since this was the summer I decided i was going to finally get my car running)
Lacrosse here too. New just joined. Mine is a 91' RS Camaro with AR 16' Rims, 305 with a Flowmaster exhaust System. Otherwise it's all stock. 2 12" Kicker subs, Ground Effects. (WIP)Custom interior. Has 189,000 miles on it and the tranny and still beats ricers off the line.
