Ah The age old I-80 question........I used to live in Belleville...was stationed at Scott AFB....but my wife is from Elgin....So anyone south of Chicago is Southern Illinois and apparently we are all *******s too!...lol

Well I realize this is an older post but I just stumbled onto it. I am now near Chicago. I grew up in Salem which is not far from many of you. When I told family and friends I was moving to Chicago a few of them said "You will get shot". Its nice down there. I may be the only one from Chicago who knows where Southern Illinois is.

I grew up in Benton Il. Then lived in Chicago from 1987-1995. People in Chicago do not know there is anything below Kankakee. That is what they considered Southern Il. when I lived up there. I know live in Tampa Bay area.
