1983 trans am daytona 500 without t-tops

Hey guys whats up? First time poster, not last i hope. I own 2 1983 trans am daytona 500 pace cars. I just bought the last one today and i can't find any other ta's like this one that is factory without t-tops! I love these cars. I also have a 5-speed with a 7500$ 1969 327 that i built and set up for nitrous. A TA with a pair of balls. Anyway this car even had the super hard to find floor mats. I'm sure the floor mats alone would pull 500$. she needs body work but the vin and y82 on the radiator support verify it is a daytona 500 pace car. I have never seen one without t-tops. has anyone else, got one, seen one, or got any info on this missing option? I will post pics of both cars at some point. thanks kidcool654

There were 153 '83 Daytona 500 Pace Car replica hard tops made, 116 with the CFI/auto and 37 with the LG4/5-speed. There has been a few on ebay over the last few years.

Awesome thanks. I'm glad it is rare. I live in Iowa and junkyards are crushing all their cars because steel is up in price, so finding parts is getting harder and harder each day. These trans ams go up in price every year seems like. I love driving mine, No trailer queens. trailer queens are like buying a house you don't live in. Do you know of a site i can see these numbers at? thanks man!

I don't know about that. It seems like with the economy the prices of 3rd-gens are dropping like a rock. There was a guy in Chicago that was selling seven '83 Daytona 500 pace cars and he was having trouple selling some of them around $1000-1500. He had a really nice one for only $3400. The last Daytona hardtop that was on eBay was a decent driver and went for around $2000.

Re: 1983 trans am daytona 500 without t-tops

Right, I think these cars are under valued because a lot of people do not understand they are low production numbers. Sometimes nothing will sell if you cant afford to buy it. Maybe its my area but i haven't seen one of these for less than 7500$. I saw one that went for 18,000$ I know here it is even hard to get 3rd gen parts.I suppose it depends on the time you sell too, I mean if you have 7 some one will try to lowball you all day. Give it another 5 years and you will probably wish you picked up all 7. I remember when you could get a GTO judge mint for 2500$ try that now. I've seen 69 z28's go for 75000$. now you can go to year one and build one alot cheaper. I mean how many cars they only they made 116 of do you even see today. I have looked for rare cars my entire life ( i could afford ) and I didn't even know these existed. I looked for a 327 crankshaft for almost 5 years before i found one under 750$ But i have seen them as cheap as 100$ on ebay so the internet is a big help these days. i went to the junkyard the other day where you could find 250 3rd gens, now 30 tops, 5 more years who knows. anyone who comes across a low mile, unsalvaged, numbers matching daytona 500 ta for 3500$- let me know. I might even be buried in my 5 speed. lol later guys.............
