proud owner of a 1986 irocz tpi | Ah yes i remember you, haha you beat me to the punch! I'm the one with the black 1990 iroc, but yeah.. to add to that anyone reading this we really are trying to take over that parking lot. This weekend we started off with four, and then when we got to the lot after the cruise this guy^^^ and a couple others came out of the woodwork(about....8 cars?). The week before we must have had atleast 10 or so cars(including 4th gens as well). The portion of the pack i was with cruised up north on 83rd to get there coming from the south/southwest suburbs(la grange etc...) As far as I know our group comes on saturday nights and we try to get there around 7-8. Seriously though, if anyone is interested and has any other 3rd/4th gen friends, drag them over!! It would also be cool if we could meet up somewhere to cruise all in one huge pack too?!? I really want to see this get organized just because it was as AWESOME when we did this the first time but how about a entire fleet?!? hahaha! We should rename this something like Strats f-body takeover or something! but yeah.....

T56 is in the car. Still need to do some electrical wiring and reprogram the PCM for a 6spd though. | And its up and driving in prototype form. Still no Reverse Lockout Disable so I need to bust out the muscle to put the car in reverse.
No center console yet, but I need to modify some stuff and get a lower shift boot. Probably going to do that tomorrow morning.
Been driving the car daily, and boy does it need a tune up. Still happy to drive it.
So perhaps I shall bring it out to strats Sat night. IAC follow on clutch in is not programmed yet so it stalls at lower revs if not careful. Really need to get it done right. Must learn more about tuning. |

I want myself a nice set of ZR1s. Did you buy a new set or pick them up used somewhere?
Wonder how much of an improvement you'll feel with those tires. What size tires are you going to be running?

Wonder how much of an improvement you'll feel with those tires. What size tires are you going to be running? | The tires will make the largest difference. I'm currently riding on a set of near 6/7 year old Kuhmo Ecsta's, the cheapest version they make. They are past the wear bars, and hard as a rock. Its ridiculously easily to lock the front tires up at highway speeds and not have any real deceleration.
I expect the Nitto's will give me a huge boost everywhere in handling/braking/acceleration.
The Rims I bought used for a super cheap deal from a friend, I painted them a while ago, but never had tires to put on them. The paint was crappy autozoo wheel paint and it yellowed really bad.
So when a chance came up to have them coated I took it. They had some serious curb rash and and a bent lip on 2 of the rims but balanced and mounted tires just fine. The coater fixed the bend and refinished all of the rims to remove curb rash. In places he actually welded additional aluminum on the wheel and sanded it all back down. He does great work.
I think the guy double coated them, aka a light 100% coat, baked, then another coat on top of that. They look amazing.
Car is super dirty right now, looked at this morning. Some animal decided to walk all over the hood, and I haven't washed it since before the storms we had the other day. So its got road dirt all over it.
I'll still post up a pic.
Center console is back in and the interior is buttoned up. I broke my console top plate modding it. I cut out the PRNDLE bit and when I was bolting it in, I forgot how fragile it had become and ended up snapping it in half.
All bolted together you can't really tell its broken at all.

275/40/17s on 16x9" zr1s. I'd consider a 17x11 ZR1 in back, but thats a whole lot of clearancing I don't want to do to run them tucked in.
Currently have 245/50/16 as the Camaro salad shooters are 16x8 rims. |

You will want to go here: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/third-gen-fest-12/
Thirdgenfest 2012 takes place on Memorial Day in Crete IL.
Well worth setting the time aside to go there. Tons of very cool projects, finished builds, and clean stockers. |
