I used to have a set of 083 heads, i think.. those the iron L98's? oh well. shipped them out along time ago.
This has been dead but i havent had a thirdgen to do anything with other than just stare at it in the garage unfinished and watching summer fade away....
IF i do get that 99 trans am for my daily next week, i'll atleast have a quick fun car to play with while mine is still down. Wont be as hard on me then... but i still want my baby back on the road.
Got the 99 TA today... its pretty sweet.. needs some mild work to be perfect but its a daily driver car for a cheap price, so i dont expect much from it. I'm happy with it so far.
I like it alot. Steering feel is much worse than the camaro tho, its got a very stiff wheel like it has weak power steering but there is power steering. Requires alot of effort to turn. The car needs lowered abit with stiffer springs and better shocks before i can get a good handling feel for it but the car does feel much heavier than the camaro.
Interior however is very comfortable. Trans Am seats with adjustable side bolsters and lumbar are sweet. Much better than the thirdgen seats and abit better than the Corbeau Forza's I have in the camaro now. They dont hug as tight as the Forzas obviously but are abit more comfortable to sit in, as expected.
T-tops are SWEEET but I'm glad the camaro doesnt have them haha. Thirdgens need stiff roofs, 4th gens seem to get away with T-tops and body flex.
LS1 power is very smooth and strong... definately stronger than the full bolt on L98 in the mid range and top end. Car picks up well, but needs a converter to get a better feel for the power. Still has 2.73 gear so it needs 3.42's atleast to be more fun.
All in all, this car rocks and I'm glad to get it. May never be as fast as the camaro or as nimble but for a fun DD you cant really beat it
Thats cool. I thought i'd just have to clean mine up a little, but thanks to the Wilmington twp road crew, the whole bottom side of my car is covered in tar. Yippee. Thats going to take quite a few hours to clean.
i want my car there sOOOOOOOOOOOO bad but it probly wont happen unless i kick some serious butt the next two days and I really cant... i dont have a memcal yet..its getting shipped, driveshaft is getting shipped tomorrow, and my header flanges need straightened just a bit..... sigh......
I got a 99 TA that aint too pretty but its an fbody haha
Is there a good turn out for thirdgens? I've never been there. Thinking about taking a ride over.
There's usually a decent amount of thirdgens there. It varies week to week. I'm thinking if the weather is good there should be a decent turnout. On average theres at least 800-1200 cars there each week. The opening night this year had close to 2000 if not more.

I've been trying to convince matt to give me his memcal but no luck. Havent been able to find anyone else with one yet. I still have people looking. If nothing else bring the ta. It wont be the worst looking car there. If Matt brings his bird it definitely won't be the worst.lol

Yeah, i'm in that club.
and $%^#!!!! I missed 8/7 ugghhh. Oh well, car isnt ready to go anyways.
Seems like its just one of those years. Everyone got inspired to work on their cars but few have finished them. It happens. Hopefully next year will be better.
I'd just like to say that i live like 40mins from pittsburg and i will hopefully have finished my camaro by next summer. i'd really like to hang out at some car shows and stuff with other Thirdgens when its done. so what im trying tto say is let me know when you guys around pittsburg meet up next summer.

You can say that again. I didnt go to a single show this year. Too busy. I only drove my poor car twice since last November, and the first time my coil went out. Next year though, I'm going to MAKE the time to go to at least a few!
I havent been out to any shows or anything like that this year. Stopped up Irwin/Norwin Hills 2 times but thats about it. Went to PRP 2 times, once to film a friends car, another to race my 99 TA
Now that the camaro is running i'll try to get to the track soon but seems to be end of the year for shows...too cold
i used to live in Greensburg, which is about 40 mins from Pitt. There are two good shops there, One is A1 machine shop. Want you blocks bored and your heads shaved? He is your man, the other is "the motorworks" Excellent shop if you want an engine built. He has several 9 second drag cars he built and has a large reputation.
If we are on the subject of machine shops, I take all my machine work needs to DLK performance in Russelton,PA. A1 work me and my brothers have taken tone of stuff out there the longest it takes them to get our stuff done was a week. They have great prices and they are very knowledgable and have never steered me wrong yet.
