does anybody know of any junk yards around here with 3rd gens that arent already picked clean? I was just out at millerstown. They have like ten but i couldnt get much. Crows run had a white gta last time i was there. Thinking bout goin and gettin the wheels and tires off of it as spares or burnout tires :-) But i am need of some stuff. I'm hopin to hit a couple this weekend. If you guys know of any ones worth checkin out, please hit me up asap

I haven't been there in about a year, but Feezles in Enon Valley had a decent amount of third gens when I was there last. Who knows whats there now. Their phone # is 724-336-5512.
has anyone cut a door to replace fuel pump in ur 3rd gen?...did u cut the hard fuel lines (4) to get pump out and use rubber fuel lines to put back in?...soccerman how did u do out zelienople chris and i saw u run?

Although I live in Ohio, I'm in Pittsburgh almost every weekend. I just finished installing the T56 and wouldn't mind hitting up some tracks or meeting up.
Anyone know of some cruises next weekend? My baby is finally going to get inspected next week if all goes well and i want to drive her till the gas runs out.
Then fill her up and drive some more

Hello, im finally going to get my drivers license on july 29th, but i dont know what car to take it in. I want to take it in my camaro but my dad doesnt think its a good idea, but my moms mini van is harder to drive than the camaro. So what do you guys think, camaro or mini van?

Whichever vehicle you are more comfortable in, and have more experience driving would be your best bet. So if its the Camaro, take it in that.
finally got my wideband so i can start tuning this car. have some issues with the new motor i hope to work out soon. it drives great as is, but needs fine tuning to be perfect. Then i got to get it inspected. Once thats done, we are good to cruise!!!

I def need to see this thing in person, sounds and looks sick! My 86' is on the road finally, was approved for Classic plates so I insured it and got it inspected. Needs a tune-up since its sat for the 3 years Ive owned it and who knows how many years before me, but the 2.8 thats in it runs smooth nonetheless. Cant wait to start on the engine for it this winter, either a 383 or 400 SB is going in.
yea but im worried about the guy giving the test is going to be hard on me because im driving a camaro.
Yeah your going to have those jerks that judge you on the car your driving, but if you do everything he asks and do it right he cant fail you easily. Just relax and drive the way you know how. If your really worried about it and the guys in your area are known to be jerks take the mini van, but practice driving it for a few days before your test. You should do fine..

In other news. My car is done!!! I just need to go to AAA and fill out some paper work, call my insurance company ($90/mo), and then hand the keys over to my dad to get her inspected, and we're good to go!!

Yes he is, thank God. I couldn't do half this stuff without him, but i'm learning. I stripped my L98 down again, this time without my dads help. We're sending it to the engine shop (Bob George Racing) sometime in the next month or 2 to get boiled (with the heads), bored, and balanced (my new 383 rotating assembly that is)

Haha I know the feeling, my dad's a mechanic too. I'm learning, but I'd be clueless and screwed (And broke) without his help lol. I'm going with a 383 or 400 SB setup, I plan on that being a winter project this year though..

I know about as much as you do when it comes to engines lol. Orr98 would be the one to ask advice from, he knows what he's doing when it comes to that stuff. Just look at his build, its insane! Lol

I've already talked to Orr multiple times. In fact, he's help me formulate that build. He even offered to help tune my car once it's ready. Our cars are actually very similar, and I shouldn't be TOO much slower then him because my build is similar too.

Yeah your cars are very similar, will be neat to see them side by side once both are completed. Does he know around about what he's getting to the rear wheels? I hope on getting between 400-425 RWHP with the setup I go with..

With the right tune and everything right, i should be at roughly 400 RWHP and 500 RWTQ. I believe Orr was looking for somewhere closer to 450 or 500 RWHP though i cant remember correctly.

I'll be happy with low 12s NA and low-mid 11s on the 150 shot, though i've been told that if i get that 500RWTQ to hook, i'll be eating up the asphalt and be closer to mid-high 11s on motor

I would think you'd be in the mid 11's without the 150 shot if your running 400 RWHP with the right drivetrain & tire setup. I wont be running any NOS, 400 HP to the wheels is more than enough for me lol.

That's why I'll probably not dominate the drag strip quite as much as if it was a full drag car. Plus I need to stay on pump gas and above 10 MPG please.

SO true. I calculated it once. My car will be somewhere around $22,000 to finish. That includes the price of the car, paint, suspension, chassis, frame, engine, tranny, etc etc etc etc etcccc plus about $3000 i didn't think i would need but threw in there anyways to cover stupid s*** i know will happen.

($400 lol) Ive put about $600 into the audio system, $400 for body parts and paint, $400 into interior, and $200 for miscellaneous things. the big hit for me is drivetrain and paint. I figure $7000 for the engine, $2000 for tranny, and $2000 for rear-end. Plus driveshaft and random bits... then maybe $4000-$6000 for paint. (my dad cant do that.. needa pay full price). thats hard on the wallet

I painted mine myself, just me and my dad in our home garage lol. Didnt come out perfect, but I didnt expect it to. It still needs wet sanded so most of the imperfections should come out, and I plan on respraying the ground effects silver to make the car pop a little more. A gallon of Kirker paint plus thinner, primer, and other painting supplies cost me around $200. Not bad if you ask me, worth saving all that $ to me. I learned alot about body work, and overall it was a great experience.

Hell yeah, its worth saving the money and gaining the experience. I wouldnt mind helping out if you needed the help either.

You better not have any real body work that needs done to the car I hope. Youll see all the body work we do with a dark color like that. No stripes or anything fancy makes it easy tho, just mask everything off and shoot it.

The dents and waves are being removed by a specialist i know. Oter than that, i was going to prep it myself, and then let someone paint it. But maybe ill prep and paint myself...

Well Bethel Park ain't bad, I work at QS&L in Pleasant Hills. We'll need to meet sometime even if it's just the two of us. I should head to bed too lol, I work tomorrow.
