I asked my dad if he'll register my car, and he shrugged it off. If I cant drive it I might as well sell the ****ing thing.
Sam my little grasshopper, have you sat down with your dad and ask him why.... without catching an attitude?
Whatt do you have to offer him by registering and insuring your car? Are you working and able to pay for the gas and insurance? or is this going to be an expense on his part.
Communication and proving your maturity to him is always a good start. Didn't you recently get in trouble with an unauthorized loan?
What I am trying to say is grow up and speak with him.. respectfully.

Yeah I have.
Well, for Insurance I have money to give him. It would only be a few hundred if he insures it under his policy. Gas, I'll handle as I'm not gonna daily the thing. I'll be gettign a job maybe in the summer. Im too busy with school to have an afterschool job.
How do you know about that unauthorized loan thing? lol it wasnt a big deal.
I spoke to him respectfully. I guess he doenst want me driving. So I might as well sell the car if I cant drive it.
Only parents with no sense just hand their child keys, put them on their policy and tell them to go have fun. It will take time. Don't give up hope just yet.

Well said.
You have a pretty powerful car for a first car. I think you are going to have to prove to your dad that you are a responsible driver. He has a lot to loose if you get into an accident. Not to mention the financial burden.
My parents made me put my first car in my name. The reason they did that was so that their insurance would not go up. It will cost a lot more but you ahould offer that option. Has he droven with you? or did he just see you burning out in the parking lot?

Are you seeing my point?
I drive his '02 Savana with a Vortec 5.7 often with him in it. He knows I drive well. I told him, im not into racing and all that BS. I just wanna enjoy my car.
do the good grades thing, act responsible and don't get in trouble for stupid little things in/out of school, and participate around the house and help out. Parents love that crap, lol. Having him let you drive him around and letting you drive around by yourself is two entirely different things in parents minds, and as mentioned...you get in an accident...your not the only one broke by the time your done. You want a good example, look at hulk hogan at this point...his 17 year old son was on his insurance, they are broke, in court, losing houses left and right, i heard divorce, not to mention one little act of speed (180MPH+?!) killed his best friend.
Do not take this personal, but i'm just saying, look outside the box in. He needs to have A LOT of trust in you to be responsible with the decision he makes. As i said, it will probably not be an overnight job, but what i would suggest is what i stated above, and possibly ask him to let you borrow the car (with/without him) to go checking for summer jobs. He might like you stepping up to the plate without him even asking. Just a couple ideas.
hell if all goes well i should have the new heads, intake manifold, that crazy lookin carburated blower off jegs that looks like a supercharger(cheap mans blower), and a metalic blood red paintjob with the with the bird decal huggin the blower on my car and ill be there.
We need a time and official meeting place... The Pathmark/ Applebees parking lot seems to be a popular spot. And I think before it gets dark would be cool to meet so we can see all the cars but idk about everyone else idk how long people are going to want to stay... (idk is i dont know, thats for all you old folk)
sorry dude but that parking lot is filled with 17 year old virgins and rice.. well meet at the shannigans parking lot.. always muscle there. and a good view of the turnaround.
