| pass Ma emissions testing? i sold my monte carlo SS with a 87 tpi 5.7 in it. The car passed for me with a carbed engine, then I did the swap, the car didn't have to pass the 2nd year cause of the every other year testing of emissions. So I don't know if it will pass when the buyer gets it inspected. THe only two things that are missing, are functional air tubes(cut off and welded shut)the airpump is missing because what good is it without the tubes. And the charcoal canister is gone. The engine was tuned up with ac delco parts, wires, plugs, coil, distributor cap and rotor. The egr is still functioning, and the catalytic converter is still there. The check engine light is off all the time. Should this pass a sniffer asumming the tester isn't looking for the missing equiptment. Would the air pump and the charcoal canister help that much? If the car fails, I'm probably going to offer to buy the parts and install them for the buyer, because i'd rather loose a few hundred bucks, rather than have to try and sell the car again in this crappy market. I did make him sign the bill of sale as is. I think its going to pass just based on the fact that not much comes out of that tail pipe. In other words its not half as bad as other V8's where you can't stand behind them car while they are running. |
