i will say the procharged gto with the 4l80 trans is wicked badass. he had that car at the pinks all out in atlanta, and also showed up at an event at rockingham. (which he drove the car 3 hours to get to)
swapped tires and clicked off a couple of high 9 second passes, put the street wheels back on and drove 3 hours back home.
good buddy of mine also has the fastest 6 speed bolton gto i believe.
That's nice and clean and I'm planning on seeing this event.

Good deal....
That's Shawn's first LS1, he's been driving turbo buicks for the last five years. He didn't believe me at first, but after just "blipping" the throttle onto the carrier, he's now a believer. I don't think he'll ever go back....

Al, did the deal go through? Did you get your hands on that Z28....?
My buddy Shawn just picked up his '88 GTA w/LS1 swap today....;

Everything went well with the tradethe car is home and i hope to have it @ E-town in a few weeks to see how it runs i have check a few things out have my guy look at the tune to make sure it is all good.
Well done Al and Frank, your crew ran some excellent times......!
However, my man Paulie WON the slick class @ EFI....
Congrats Paulie....!
I ran your boy Paulie in the slick class... He needs to work on the tree 0.424 R/T .. I thought mine was bad at 0.134.. I only lost because I didnt hit the breaks at the end and broke out .. I tryed to let the engine slow me down because I though he blew the tires off at the line or something too.. He ran his number but I had him by 6 lengths and I just hate hitting the breaks on someone.. I find it a little dirty even if it is racing.. Congrats to him for wining the class though !!
I was happy even after losing though.. That was my best pass so far this year and I let off and forgot to take traction control off..

I'll let you in on something, Paulie broke a rocker arm, and bent a pushrod prior to running you. He ran you wounded, it was truly a cinderella story from the Grand National side....

no wins for me we got rained on hard,i even drove back in the down pour with a spooled rear, and no wipers or heat/defroster. 100 something miles.
itwasnt all to bad but i was always worried about spinning the car out going around corners in the rain,i only got the car sideways once when the turbo spooled up on me going up a very steep hill,dam north jersey roads
gota love being ableto tune on the fly i dropedboost to 5 psi andleaned the motor out as far as i could without it runing liek **** or running hot and got 28mpg on the way back with 4:10 rear gears and an unlocked converter
At the movie... But I crossed the line first so ahhh, that inch or mile thing dosn't apply..
Well, you could have won by an inch or a mile during that race, but it didn't matter though, cuz he still brought the trophy home that night though! j/k
Just spoke w/those guys, they're prepping Shawn's new GTA for the track this Wednesday as I write this. Gonna have Paulie come down for this event in October, so we'll have you two guys pair up during the preliminary runs, and this time, it'll be more like this, Click Here (1st and last run are his)....;

i had them out,then i thought about it and put them back in the 4,10s just feel so much better then the 3:42's,but ur right they are killing my mph ill prolly pickup 7 mph and a few tenths if i keep the dam 3:42's in
28 mpg? Gahhhh. And that tuning on the fly must be nice. Someday, I'll be able to do that....when an LQ9 falls into my bay.
yes it does spool faster with the 3:42's but with the small turbo i dont need faster spool it spool sup to fast as it is,notto mention i have the antilag system regaurdless of gears i can spool that turbo froma standstill witht he converterat only 2,500 rpms (4,200 stall converter) i just like the way the 4:10's feel when crusing around, i think they actually help out under non boost driving
yeah i got 28mpg on the trip back, and had i locked the converter up i prolly woulda seen around 33-35mpg, and i bet i coulda squeezed another 1-2 mpg out of it
yup tunning on the fly open the laptop and make changes live while the cars running and they take affect instantly no burning chips or like forthe flash based stuff obd 2 waiting 2 mins to upload a new tune
If I were to do my motor over again, I'd either do it lsx or kept the stock 305 and invested in some per cylinder tuning equipment and pushed it stock. I ran 16psi, stock assembly, to it for a couple months, but only saw 5500 rpms. Trans started to slip almost instantly. It would have been fun to see how far I could have gotten it.
We're hitting the track tonight for some practice launches with Shawn's new GTA w/LS1 swap. He'll be hitting the nitrous tonight to see what the car is capable of before the turbo installation. If anyone is dropping by, be sure to say hello....
Shawn, try to reach out to your buddy with the Red TTA clone from Brooklyn, I'd like to get him matched up with Frank, if possible. That would be an awesome run to capture on video....
For those who don't know who I'm talking about, it's member TTA850, some of you may remember his car from that "Get Psycho" 3rd gen video, his run is at 1:35 in the video, Click Here, however, he's running much much faster now....

Awesome turn out tonight over at e-town. Shawn had some incredible runs, the car is easily a high 11 second car as it sits. With torque management ON, and a so so 60-foot, the car finished the night with this, Click Here....
We're headed for Cartek tomorrow to get the car dialed in. The car has NO timing in it whatsoever, the previous owner calibrated a very conservative tune for his kid. Can only imagine the amount of power that Cartek is going to squeeze out of it tomorrow, not to mention, disabling the torque management as well.
... and to think, tis only the beginning stages of the build!

damn a single 70mm turbo is gonan do wonders to that thing
Tell me about it. After the dyno tune today over at Cartek, disabling torque management, and if Shawn can manage a 1.5x sixty foot (he's running MT's out back, hard to tell at night though), I say he finishes Friday off with a 11.3-11.4 (he should have been in the high 11's last night). He's still not really convinced yet coming from the Turbo Buick world, but after Cartek he definitely will be....

Cartek built my motor and I love it, runs strong and the tune is spot on... Unfortuatly I had some issues with them and wont be going back..

I'm honestly not too thrilled w/them either after today. Spoke w/Dennis over at the Vette Doctors as they have an everyday special of $298.00 for a full dyno tune, and Cartek wouldn't even consider lowering their prices after I told them that. We even know two guys that used to work for Cartek for crying out loud, and that still didn't influence anything. I told Shawn to go anyways, mainly cuz I'm sure he wants to follow up those runs with an eleven second pass, and the Vette Doctors are booked until next week....
