The 2009 East Coast F-body Nationals will be held at Island Dragway in Great Meadows, NJ on Sunday, August 9th. You don't have to wait around for the main even to get out to the track though, we will be kicking the weekend off with the traditional F-body vs. Mustang action on during Island Dragway's Friday Street Night on August 7th.
The 2009 East Coast Nats are set to feature four exciting drag racing classes, two index and two traditional brackets, as well as the great car show that we have all come to expect from the NJFBOA's Anniversary celebration.
While the action on the track and show field will be all about GM's pony car platform, everyone is welcome. As with all of our great NJFBOA events it is open to all owners, friends, and fans of the F-body platform.
Hope you can make it out if even your car isn't ready. It's a really good time.

Oh I will probably be there. The car would probably be there if I got it running and legal. Its a short drive through the country for me so its not that bad. I will be there but don't bet on seeing an original (except for the motor) 1984 TA with the paint falling off. I have been trying to get it running since I put the motor in it, with no luck. I am in my final year of school and will see what I can do to put the TA back on the road when I get out in May.
I am not currently a member of the site. I've been to it though. Maybe sometime later today or this week I will join up.
I doubt you would have any trouble getting to Island from Andover without getting in any trouble. Street legal or not, it is only a few miles on 46 and I have never seen the Hackettstown police bother anyone who didn't earn the privilege.
hmmm, wide open exhaust, a 7 year old inspection sticker, no registration, no insurance, and the likely speeding ticket to go along with that.....lets see...that is about 750 dollars in fines. And I am a broke college student. Anyway, most likely if I do bring it it will be legal. Nevertheless, I will be there, Trans Am or no Trans Am.
I am sure you noticed....I joined up with the NJFBOA.
Glad to see you got signed up. Several of us will most likely be staying at a hotel along the way, maybe if you blend in with us they won't notice so much. lol
Start spreading the word. The 2009 East Coast Nats are gonna be a weekend to remember.

If I hear of any other local f body owners I will let them know. Speaking of cars local to me...I have a question about one...
There is a 1971 (don't think its a 72) Trans Am White with a Blue Stripe that is a common sight at a transmission shop called Byram Transmission. It has to be a local car. I was wondering if he was on the boards over at njfboa. License Plate is a memorable one. It says FASMOFO. I was wondering if he was among those who show up at those nats. If the car is not known I will drop him a line if I see him. (the car at least LOL.)

Don't think I know that car, but if you post up about it in the North Jersey region on the NJFBOA forum odds are someone will know it.
You shoudl stop over there one day and tell him about the club and event. We can always use more classics, especially early 2nd gen birds. They are sexy as hell.
Gotta find the person who had the 89 TTA from two years ago and get him to come back and park at the end of a row. I need better pictures than the last ones!
In case you guys didn't notice on NJFBOA or elsewhere I got the TA running. Picking up the rims with new tires from the tire shop today, if I can get my plates and exhaust done by state fair week, and I feel the car can make it to Island I'll have it on the field. Paint is shot, interior needs to be redone, and had to do the engine swap but other than all that, the car is an original survivor with only maintenance and some drivetrain repair work done. It will be on the show field if they let me on. LOL.
