welcome to the site, there's a few people on here from that area, i'm from mass. check out www.nefbody.org we're all from this area. thanks!
Firebirdeddie, you can also take a look at necamaro-firebird.org Thats were quite a few New England 3rd gen's hang out. We're actually all 3rd gens. There are a few members from your immediate area.
In your original post you asked for any help as the car was new to you. i meant if you need some pointers or mechanical help with anything on the car let me know.I have had mine completly apart upgraded the whole suspension, motor, int, paint etc. Howard
Well...now that you mention it... I do have a problem. Its with the Hatch Sealing mechanism in my firebird. When i Close the Hatch The motor would keep spinning and wouldn't pull the hatch down to seal it. To prevent burning the motor out i Just unplugged it. and I'm thinking of ways to get more power out of my V6 since i dont have cash to do a V8 conversion. Is it possible to convert it to a V8 and still keep my 5 speed manual transmission? I have a video of my vehicle on you tube. Here is the Link.
The only difference now is i have a hurst T handle on now. Everyone asks me if i Have a V8 cause it sounds amazing and the whole car is DE-badged. Except for the "Pontiac" on the LF headlight. But I'm changing that to "FIREBIRD" soon.
By the way, since we are both located in Manchester, I am off-work until Wednesday. If you would like to meet up. I'd love to see yours and Dream of whats its like to have a V8 under my hood!!! lol!!!
Some of you local guys should swing by my new cruise it starts Sunday the 17th at 8:00am in Haverhill Target parking lot, next to 495.It's cars & bikes
Cars and coffee! I Was planning on making that trip last week but of course it rained.
Firebirdeddie,
It sounds like the screw drive mechanism failed on your trunk motor. On mine the plastic motor housing was cracked and constantly ran the motor. I found replacement parts at the Quirk (dobles) for about $40. Replacing them is a piece of cake.
I'm Having trouble with my car. Drove through some water during the last thunderstorm we had. I changed the Mass Airflow Sensor cause it got toasted by the water. Ran fine for a week. Now it has trouble starting and when it does it has trouble idoling and when its up to temp it idols around 1500-2000 RPM and If i give it more than 1/4 Throttle It bogs down i have no power and it sounds like its misfiring and backfires with flames right out of the pipes. Ive changed the TPS and The Wires and still acts up. I won't get rid of the car but i dont know what else to do.

my first guess would be water in the distributor. If it sucked water in the motor and is running like that then a compression test would show if it did damage. where did you bring it?
Sweet car. There's a good cruise night on Wednesday's on RT 28 in Salem NH the local Pontiac Firebird club puts on. I went this week, I'll try to swing in again next week.
after the storm I brought it home and I learned a couple weeks ago if you jump connectors 5 and 6 on the OBD port the check engine light will blink the codes at you. I've changed the cap rotor, plugs, wires and still nothing. I am gonna run a compression test today as well as see where the timing is. The last thing i can think of is it needs a new timing chain. which would mean the end of summer for me.

I am a member of the New England Firebird Auto Club. I have only made it down to Fuddruckers once this Summer but I am hoping to get down there this coming week. I just got back from the cruise night at Target in Nashua. Good turnout but it cleared out quick around 7:15 when it started to rain.
Hey, it was good to meet you tonite. Small world. I cant tell you how many cruise nights I have been to (Target included) where my car has been the only 3rd Gen car. Seeing 5 tonite was a record for me.
Your car is coming along nicely. I always loved that color combo.
Here is a link to a feature that was done on my car back in 07.
Over here in Merrimack myself. Just got my 87 Iroc a few weeks ago. Perfect timing to drive it, fall in love and garage it for the laundry list of work in needs this winter.
