My hood legal in NJ?

As my IROC nears completion I am starting to wonder if my hood is street legal... I have driven the car around locally but the cops bothered it. And now the motor doesn't sound to street friendly, the cam has quiet a bit of overlap and sounds like it shouldn't be something I should be driving around.

Just trying to cover my own tail, I don't need any tickets for stupid things like obstruction of view. Is a 4.5-5" cowl illegal on this vehicle? I need it to clear my intake manifold, carb spacer, and intake.

the legal limit is 2.5 or 3" not sure which, but 4-4.5 will not pass inspection.

Re: My hood legal in NJ?

It wont pass inspection with a 4 inch cowl? that sucks, I get mine inspected here in NY with a 4 inch. Im not sure if they are supposed to or not or if its even legal here, but this year was the 3rd year i got it inspected with this hood on it. The cops never pulled me over for it, so I dont think they are to worried about it.

Lol.....yea, I know where that is. They are ~5 minutes north of The Chatterbox, if you know where that is (huge cruise night every Saturday).

Not too far from you either...West Milford. I have a 3" cowl but never have been bothered yet by the cops. Usually get it inspected in Newton dmv as well.
