Do any of you guys know if most/any insurance companies will insure a car with the classic plate for cheaper?
also, if any of you have two vehicles and one (obviously) being a 3rd gen with basic coverage, do you find the rates to be incredibly high?
I'm wondering which is my better option at this point. I've heard that classic plates have their advantages and disadvantages, and I would be using the car more then once a week, just not putting a lot of miles on it with each drive. I don't want to get pulled over for having classic plates or something since I basically drive in the same area.
Sorry if this is a little personal, just trying to get all my info straight.

Classic insurance is cheaper but there are limitations on how you can use the car. I have Grundy for mine and my policy clearly states i cannot use either of the vehicles for use in going to and from work or other daily type use. That being said Grundy did say that don't have a issue if i happen to take one of the cars out on a clear, sunny Friday & i happen to swing by the office.....
Yeah that's what I figured. Do they monitor your mileage or something?
I have liberty mutual and I'm just trying to decide what will be more cost effective. Haven't called yet because I just haven't had time but I'm thinking my rates are definitely going to go up, even with minimum coverage and a two car discount.
I don't recall Grundy putting a limit on mileage. I did have to tell them what kind of mileage i thought i would do each year. Since i only use my two for pleasure/shows i put less than 2,000 miles on each year.
I have geico and have a 97 expedition and my 86 Camaro on with out full coverage. I do have the payouts cranked up so there not the minimum because I have a house but it's pretty basic stuff.
$680 x 6 months. It will go down by $200 in January when my record clears up to perfect and they add me as amarried too.

Not to be off topic but, from my experience, SafeAuto is the cheapest insurance company I have yet to deal with. Whether they offer classic tags or not is a good question but the company is worth looking into. I saved a little over $100 after switching with 5 points on my license.
They do monitor the milage, their is a sertain time you can drive the vehicle till I think it's about dawn, unless you are going to or comming from a car show, clasic plates are no fun just go custom normal plate
I go with erie insurance it's like 300 and some odd change for a year stored over winter
86 firebird
well it's expensive to get the plate to begin with, and ya it's the normal price again to get the other plate, yes you can't trade here it's about 45 with AAA membership atleast to get a standard plate
In pa i believe its 75 dollars + some fee to get a classic tag.Only good thing is that you dont have to pay the 36 dollar renewal fee every year like you do with a regular tag.So after 2 years it pays for itself
