Car: 86 Camaro Iroc-Z Engine: 305ci TPI Transmission: 700R4 | id rather not pay for a chip when i could eventually burn my own, but i would still look into it. and echeck is confusing me, i failed before, put a new cat and cat-back on, and failed by more! so either way i think i can pass just by proving that i spent a certian amount of money trying to pass. |

| Wow, most of you seem to be way up north around Cleveland or Columbus. I am down near Cincinnati. We have a rather large cruise inn on Friday nights in Milford, around 500+ cars show up if the weather is nice. It's actually getting too large to suit me. We also have one on Saturday nights and Sunday nights, but those aren't as large and much easier to get a parking spot. There are even a couple cruises that go on during the week nights but those haven't interested me much. Larry. |

Car: 86 Camaro Iroc-Z Engine: 305ci TPI Transmission: 700R4 | I dont mean to turn this thread into emissions help, but thats for the input. ill be taking it to the test again today, i ran sea foam injector cleaner through it, and ill let it run longer than the 10 minutes it takes to get there, and ill prolly put in some 91% alcohol because a mechanic i know has told me the same thing.
only thing is, i failed the NOx only, and iv read those are caused by high combustion temps, and i thought alcohol burned hotter but maybe cleaner too. i also thought i might try higher octane gas, because higher is supposed to be harder to ignite, maybe burn slower, maybe burn cooler? retarding timing might help too but ill try to pass without doing that.
thanks again maybe ill be able to stop at the revenna car meet tomorrow if i pass today haha. |

nox is usually o2 sensor or bad cat converter. let me know if you plan to head up there. here is the problem i see with the alcohol, the higher octane won't let all the fuel burn up. do you know what that does? it washes oil off your cylinder walls and allows the pistons to scar them. my grandpa did the same thing, but it was with some beater *** chevy blazer we didn't care about. he bought a bottle of absolute alcohol, it was 100% and poured the whole thing in the gas tank, yeah it passed... the engine was dead not 6 months later. |

Car: 86 Camaro Iroc-Z Engine: 305ci TPI Transmission: 700R4 | that sounds very possible and a little scary, plus i was only planning on having 3 ors so gallonos in the tank at the time so that the alcohol wouldnt be much and wouldnt be in there long. the strange thing is the O2 has less than 500 miles on it and the cat is brand spankin new. when i put the new cat it failed by more! haha, so that just confuses me.
and i wont be able to take it to ravenna tonight due to a brake line failing and leaking, so i decided to re-do all the brake lines and such today and tomorrow.
thanks for the heads up on the possible alcohol side effect |
