eventually am looking for a bullet proof rear end....

I realize now that my 9 bolt 3.27 set-up is going to be marginal once I move up over 400 torque. So if one of you spots a deal on an actual 'STRANGE' or something of that nature, could you contact me??? I'd definitely give out a finder's fee. Nitro

Call it wishful thinking but I bet that 9 bolt rear will hold up better than you think. I've hear stories...

Just sayin'...

Other names to consider maybe? Dana, Moser?

Re: eventually am looking for a bullet proof rear end....

Now I damn sure liked THAT pic! The rear end shop owner told me to stay away from anything 'Auburn'; allegedly stuff has greatly improved since that set up was popular.
I know absolutly zip about rear ends. Having the differential shop and the transmission shop shake their heads as they walked away gave me a scare! I thought I had done plenty of 'SEARCH' on rear ends for our cars and the Borg Warner kept coming up as having a much longer longevity life than the common 10 bolt. The rear end shop owner walked me over to his supply of american gear sets and showed me that Ford & Dodge only used our size of gears on just their 6 cylinder or 4 cylinder drivetrains.

I did get enough information from the tranny shop who did my 'alleged' stage 3 build and figured out they took lots of shortcuts and used parts that are usually installed on Stage 1 & 2 builds. I spent most of Friday afternoon documenting all my notes and the conversations I had with them when I asked for my estimate. Since I've put less than 500 miles on the new 700R4 in 6 months due to part failures; I want to be able to extend my one year warrenty period to start fresh when they've finally got it running correctly. I even phoned the Converter manufacturer and asked what their standard part number for a 2200 stall, 400+ torque engine and found out that the one I got billed for is just the normal factory 1800-rpm stall without anti-ballooning or brazing.

I made sure that it's documented in writting that I plan on dragracing this puppy, so hopefully once the new engine gets installed I can go see if I can blow up the tranny and force the issue.... Nitro

I've heard nothing but good about our 9 bolt rears. I'll wait until I need to rebuild or replace it. My dream is to be 400BHP and wiegh less than 3000 lbs.
