I am contemplating throwing some eibach sportlines on my car. I know I will need new shocks and new struts along with an alignment, but I know nothing about what kind of shocks and struts I should get. Any opinions? It's a daily driver, not a drag car if that makes a difference. I appreciate any opinions. Thanks guys.

If you can afford Koni yellow sports, they're the top choice of strut / shock combinations for lowered street applications. You might also want to consider replacing the strut tower mounts while your at it, along with any other steering components that might be past their prime. Not required but highly suggested, an adjustable pan hard rod and relocation brakets.

I like The Bilsteins but they're a little expensive. About 4-500 for the front struts and 75 ach for the rar shocks. I have heard the Tokico's (sp?) are good also.

Do you have an adjustable panhard bar? When lowering that much it usally pushes the axle over more to one side so you need the adj. panhard to recenter it. They're fairly cheap too.

I am in the process of building an adjustable panhard bar. They will come with a spherical rod ends. I will let you all know and I will post a pic of it.

As for lowering your car;
tight budget --- not too tight

1-cut (not torch) stock spring to desired height with monroe sensa trac all around. This will have the best ride all year round unless you slam the car. This will not have the best cornering but better than stock.
2-eibachs springs with KYB Gas-A-Just......harsh ride. I personally don't like. I use to but getting too old for than kind of ride.
3-eibachs springs with bilstein all around.....better ride than #2. Still too old for it though.
4-eibachs springs with adjustable tokicos....well, adjustable.

IMO. I choose #1 for a daily driver and yes I have ridden cars with the above 4 combos plus more but there's my input.

I know there are more combinations but these are general combos.

ohh and giggles.. #5-cut stock springs with lakewood drag struts and shocks....rides like a Cadillac, great for drag racing.

I want the adjustable pan hard bar. Put my name on one of them Benny. The sooner the better as mine is just a bit slammed and I don't like the sledge hammer pan hard bar adjusting method I've been using.

DO NOT GET the sportlines for a daily driver. They're way too low and you will scrape and bust up everything under the car. The sportlines are made for show cars that rarely get driven. Dont go more than an inch. The pro kit springs are better for a street car.
I have Jamex springs on mine, but I dont think you can get them anymore. I scrape my front end on every driveway. I also have Koni red shocks.

That's the only way to lower a car. Can't beat the price either. I wish I saw that before I bought my sportlines.

I have option #4 on Bennie's list and I love it on my GTA.
Bilstein's all around, except I have Eibach pro-kit in the front and sportlines in the back as the rear was not quite right to me.

I'm still deciding what to do with my LS1.
I need shocks/springs as the stockers aren't cutting it, not a WS6 either.

I've been debating Sportlines or ProKit for a long time now and am steering towards ProKit after hearing all the bs with Sportlines.

Del, are you saying the ProKit rear actually raised your car? Maybe I could cut a coil from those or pull the insulator? About 1"-1.5 would be perfect on my car.

I have never had an issue with the Sportlines. The ride is fine, most of the roughness is from the wheels. I barely scraped my airdamn on my driveway and it was over a curb and on an incline and that was only if I hit it head on. I don't think I even felt a difference in ride when going from prokit to sprtlines.

The only problem I have is the ground clearance with the lakewood bell housing. So I try to avoid speed bumps as much as possible. If I was running a stock bell housing or an auto trans it would'nt be an issue. When I swapped from the pro kit to sportlines I don't think the front dropped that much more if any. There was a noticable differance in the rear though. Ride seems the same between the two.

i have suspension techniques 1" drop springs all around, with gas a just rear shocks and gr-2 front struts and i like it, doesnt have the best ride but the car feels stiff corners good, and with the lca relocation brackets i just put on get pretty good traction still.

I'll stay stock with Energy Suspension bushings all around.

I would get the Air Ride Kit! You can lower and raise it whenever you want man!! Well worth it. But then again your going to be out 2500+install. Way to much work to do in your back yard. Maybe Marc and Bennie can install it for you.

Yeah Joey I'd go with an Air Ride Tech. kit but I don't like the price, maybe I will someday for my mini truck... when it gets an LS1... when I hit the LOTTO!

The price is ugly thats for sure. But when you save up for something and it doesn't come through you get the next best thing! Car parts OH YEAH!!
