So cal has a monthly meting, they go on a cruse even in the winter once a month. They have functions and even officers of the club. We have barely even hade any posts this month. What the hell is wrong with us?

Sad, but true. We have a long ways to go before we can rival their functionality.
You have to remember though, in addition to having a denser population down there, a lot of the regulars and members that organize have been on TGO and their own website (http://www.sc3g.org) since 2000 and earlier I'd imagine.
They have a lot of older guys and gals that know how to get organized and stick with their hobby.
I think part of our problem over the past 3-5 years is the fact that we have a lot of younger hobbyists up here and with that they are always in and out of their cars and harder to organize for whatever reasons; money, family, life transitions and what have you.
On a positive note, we do have a lot of savages here that have stuck through and still come back even if temporarily w/out a 3rd gen. Just need some more leadership, ideas and follow through from those who want action taken!
I for one plan to be here awhile, so hopefully I can help somehow as well.
Well Del you are our defacto leader. So gets it going. We have an unofficial shop. I am sure mark would volunteer his shop as a go to meting place. Let's start organizing. I say we set up a meting at the end of January, start a website. And get some officers. Let's get **** going.
you are not so lame. their computer keeps krashing and i cant get in.
but you have a lot more stuff up there than we have.
you have fog, lots of fog. and the coldest summers in california. and lots of heavy coats. see - there is a bright side. and gas is plentiful because you have all those wierd people riding their bikes in all that fog and cold, leaving lots more gas for us and our stealth 383's.
just kidding - was born there - st lukes hospital. grandparents help build warf - and name is on masonic lodge too.
and a Verrrrrry Blessed Christmas to you all.

So sad, yet so true. My house is too small to offer up any GTG, but I'm all for anything else.

That's the biggest deal right there: We have been doing this since 1998. It all started when Tom Keliher (remember his blue '89 Formula 350?) was tired of all the fourth-gen bias in the all-generation SoCal F-bodies. He decided to start up a thirdgen only f-body club and we were born from there. He retired due to health reasons some time in 2001, and the other members and I decided to keep the club going under a new name. We've always had meetings every other month, and tried to do cruises or drag racing during months there isnt a meeting. As you said, the toughest part is getting people off their computers and making the drive out to meet everyone and enjoy each other's thirdgens. You guys have members as spread out in NorCal as we do in SoCal. Our officers dont do anything special, they're just the guys who have been around the longest and know how to set up the website and plan meets. We dont have any dues, but there is a collection taken up every couple of years to renew the website.
We've bounced around a few places for our meeting spots, but we currently are at a 50's diner that caters to classic muscle cars. We have been there since the place opened and helped promote it, so they let us stay, even if we're not "classic". You guys have Mark's garage to meet at, if he's interested. If not, try to find a car-related place like a diner or restaurant that does cruise-in nights. Try not to get into places that have a lot of ricers, as they only attract trouble. And make sure you spend your money at the restaurant, so they want you back. Be respectful, no burnouts or littering, and you'll be fine.
I plan on being here for a while. I am down for a meet in January. I am young, but I plan on keeping my firebird forever as it has way too much sentimental value to get rid of it. My dad and I built it, and I have had it for 2 years now.
thing with me is i like these cars...kinda, i'm just not really into the whole get together lets meet and shake hands type sh*t, more of a you either drag race or you don't type deal. That's why i don't find myself really posting too much on here.

My IROC has always been together and ready to peel the rear tires off at a meet. In fact with gas so cheap I put it back to DD status and am loving my commute once again.
Just because you don't have a get-together in your driveway every week / month don't think everyone else here isn't doing ****.
My stuff is long distance driver-able now
*hint hint*
So give me a date, ill cruise in my street legal blown 383.
in fact, of all people, I hung out with ol Kyle for a bit last night.
His new project sounds like its gonna be sweet.
I like the idea of getting together every once & a while, even every month. I know the Golden State Trans Am Club gathers at Mountain Mikes once a month to shoot the breeze, set up poker runs, meet at the track, swap meets, etc etc.
Sounds like fun, & if its not someones bag, dont come and or comment
I'm down, we could meet at the shop and for the first topic, we could discuss the future meeting spots if the shop doesnt fit.

I have been around here for awhile and have made whatever meets that I can, thirdgen or not. As of late though, I have found more important things to put money into and the car just isn't important right now. I LIKE these cars but fact is, it's still a thirdgen and will never be worth much so if I'm to put a ton of money into something, it's going to be worth it. I haven't sold anything off the car, except for my lca's and panhard and if I still have it when I have extra cash, I wouldn't mind getting it running again. I even though about buying a stock used L98 to put back in and leave it stock for meets and cruizing.
My wife and kids keep saying to keep it, I would like too. I think most of it is that I have owned it for almost 2 years and drove it for 2 days before the engine died. I can't remember how it is to drive.
How much would you want for the motor? Does it have the harness and comp.?
Im down for whatever! Im plan on staying here as long as i can. Getting together and talking thirdgens is fun. You get different ideas from other people and make good friends.

I dont know, if i could get $600 I'd be happy, I'd even thro in the computer that has a "Jet" chip in it.
As for the harness, I rec a new one.

Marc, I'll let you know about the motor in the next day or 2. I'm going to look at some things and will make my decision, not that I can drive it for the next few months now anyway, damn snow.
How many miles on it? This is the one you ran N2o through right?
I am staying with it. I dont plan on moving back to so cal. Love it up here alot more. I have to 1988 camaros now. You wouldnt believe how i ended up with the second one. My old friend lost his DL due to a dui. So he gave me the pink slip (signed), for a dk bmx bike an 2 packs of cigs. Needs body work on front end but runs. So know I have a Hard top and a conv same year.

Yep, ran it on the bottle. It loved it, we checked the plugs & timing regularly, & before we took it out, we ran a comp test on it & all cylinder came in at 170ish across the board.
It had about 134k on it when we took it out. For you, I'd put a money back gaurantee on it.
Come get it, we'll figure out the money later.

Name one emissions leagal part on your car and I'll give you a dollar. Stick it to the man, man!
I'd love to hook up with you guys. I'll probably wait until after the new year to do a meet, but I'll show up. Windsor is just 1-1/2 hours away from Sac. I won't be able to talk mods, as mine is factory stock except for some suspension work and Edelbrock headers.
Well I've been around since 04, and although I don't have a thirdgen right now anymore, I am still very interested in them and everyone's projects so I will always try to make it to meetings nearby.

Lets plan some GTG's, BBQ's, track days. I can meet in Famosa or San Jose (got relatives there) Sac track was kind of far that one time.
I'll host another BBQ at my place this next year.
I can remember when thirdgen was a .com and there were like 4 message boards.
Dwayne are you gonna stick around and post more often now? I tried to get ahold of you during the summer to have another bbq at Nojoqui Falls but you didnt respond.
Are you guys willing to drive down to Najoqui again or should we look for something in the Paso Robles area? I'd drive to Fresno, too. And there is always drag racing at Famoso we can attend.
I can make a forum for NorCal at our website ( http://www.sc3g.org/ ) as well if you want your own space. It doesnt get used much though because most people post here.
I plan on being here for long also, my iroc z has way too much sentimental value to get rid of it and its still fun to drive and it still looks good, ect, my soon to be wife bought it for me, so its not going nowhere im keeping it forever, along with my Z06 Corvette. i got rid of the ss camaro it was fast but my iroc z looks better
Kevin sorry about this summer. Yeah I'll be posting more. Najoqui falls is always a good place for a BBQ, so is Cachuma lake.
My goal is to get my 88 out to the drags and get into the 11's and still be able to drive it occasionaly to events.
I'll go check Famosos schedule....They don't have 2009 schedule up yet but they are advertising March meet and Pinks will be there in Sep. I would guess that the first testa nd tune will be in early Feb. Looking at last years schedule they may have a T&T just before the March meet. Their will be a lot of nice stuff out their that weekend, although that ususally means less runs.

Hello everyone!! Haven't been on this site for a long time, been sidetracked with boat stuff.
Hey Dwayne, glad to see you're back home.
My place is always available for a BBQ and GTG too!
Hope to see everyone again, I still use my IROC as a D.D. no matter how much gas costs. I've owned it since 1993 and will never get rid of it. Still got my 67' Cam as well, my second D.D.
John! whats up buddy! Hope the boat stuff is keeping you busy! I have some picts of one of the GTG's.
I'll post a few. I still want one of those hoods!

I agree! My '88 IROC is my DD with 234k on the original powertrain. It burns a qt. of oil between changes (trans feels weak) and just turned 20 this year. I'm kinda proud to say I watched it roll over 100 and 200k on the odo(even though there is no 100k marker on the odo, lol.) I get to attached to my Chevy's(not to mention all the time and $ I put into them(both to keep them running and updating/upgrading). I'm down for any GTG if it's planned in enough time for me to get off work. I really enjoyed driving up to Mark's shop even though my fuel pump took a dump. This has been a cool place to meet people interested in a common them, 3rdgen F bodies. I enjoy watching(online)all your projects and builds. Let me know when the next gtg is before my car blows up!
