Me & Bennie were out for one of the last "Camaro night" races,....a neon puked coolant on the track & didnt say anything, then some bikes went down the track, until one of them spun out and crashed on the top end.
They eventually shut down the lane & Bennie was to be the "runner up", the other car didnt show up so Bennie should have won...no trophy
I have won couple of these trophys, they are about 12" tall.

I'm not sure if I will be able to get the z28 ready to race by then, but I will be there for support and socializing anyways. Marking the 4th on my calender now.
Hey, I'll support a winning firebird owner in trying to claim that trophy. Kind of silly to have it only be "Camaro". I agree though a third gen trophy would be sic.
I would go but i work that day.
Also Feb my days off are getting changed to friday saturday.
But let me know head so if i need to i will request a day of leave for the gtg at marc's.
Sounded funny though, you introduce yourself, "Hey yeah, I'm the mod, see u in Folsom", then car trouble / smoke and suddenly the go pedal is to the floor
I emailed Sac raceway to plead our case of Firebirds on Camaro night, so just waiting for a reply.
No matter what, I'll still run that lane when it comes up, they arent watching it that close & if theres 4 or 5 Firebirds in the "wrong" lane, so be it.
It wont matter cause if you run quicker than 11.5, on a Wed night they boot you out.

Yeah I think I tracked it down to one of the fan blades on the motor driven fan broke in half which I think was the cause of the vibration. It worked the water pump loose then when I started to get on it to follow suit it let loose and my tire got in the water which spun the bad and I think the bang was when the motor through the belts into the hood. LOL I am going throw a new fan on tomorrow since the elec one burnt out and see if that solves the vibration. I tightened everything back down with new gaskets but the vibe was still there so I am betting on the fan.
I'd love to go, but in all honestly, having never been to the track before I'm apprehensive, simply because I'm unfamiliar with the process. Is it layed out real easy for the newbs?

It should be laid out easy. I have never been to the track either. You should meet up with everyone...
I plan on being there if i get my transmission in. going to do that on monday. just got the exhaust done and subframe connectors on so we'll see. barring a disaster or a rainy day ill be there. my currect tranmission slips too much to even try and run again.

No shorts allowed. Pay entry fee and get into line for vehicle/engine inspection. Battery must be held down in place, no loose body parts, etc. Have a pen with you to fill out paperwork while waiting for inspection. If you are 13.00 or faster, you must have a helmet (some guys have extra's to lend if you ask ahead of time). Race official will sign off on your car and write a number on your passenger window. Then you can get into race lanes on far right (6 & 7?).

I wish the iroc was ready for this. I hope to make it out to one this summer. I used to make it out to Sac pretty regularly, but haven't been up there in a few years. Best of luck to all the 3rd gens, lets get a good showing out there.

Are you still finishing up Marc, or ready to race?
We had to modify our TPIS fuel rails for more fuel delivery & correct fuel regulation, once we got that done we were able to fire it up. It sounds pretty nasty. We've got a couple head studs leaking coolant, so once we get that done, we should be able to do some driving/tuning.

well first thing my ignition control module went out on my way home friday night. i get another one change it on the side of the road. drop one of the screws install it anyway because its 8 and i cant see nothing. fire it up missing like hell, dirve it 3 blocks to my house and dig up a screw and fix it right. it gets a bubble from getting hot..wow it got hot fast. anyway. im replacing the whole distributor now, because the damn connector fell apart on me and i hate that the factory pickup coil and all that is still there car is 89. put the new tranny in yesterday, no reverse. damn must have screwed something up. pulled it back out, checked it out. believe we fixed it. now putting it back in tomorrow morning. hopefully it works otherwise i dotn know if ill make it.
alright here is the update. took the tranny apart. found the reverse drum wasnt in properly. put it back together and put it in today. it works! but its leaking. drove it home. will look at it in the morning. leaking from around the tailshaft area. thats good. easier leaks to fix. shifts nice and firm. hope to make it out there.
