second opinion please

I posted this on the engine swap section and only got one answer. I was wondering if you guys had more insight. He said that with the sdpc vortec tpi intake and the edelbrock runners i would get approx 365hp. is that about right?...other than that is this a good deal for $2000??. thanks

thread can be found here.

Re: second opinion please

Unless your running open long tubes, the power will be quite less. and i bet that engine dyno was done without any accessories, so that will bring down power as well. and in the end, make sure you have some slightly bigger injectors, and a good tune to really get that power, otherwise you wont be near what you could achieve with it. oh and stay away from nitrous with that choice.

Re: second opinion please

dont care about the nitrous...turining this into my autocross only car, but curious as why should stay away from it?. ALso, when you say bigger injectors do u mean 22 or 24lb?. whats the potential estimate of hp for this. 325hp +/- 25hp? if so, im guessing my money is better spent just saving it and piecing together my own motor

Re: second opinion please

One of my dad's previous combos was some Iron Vortec heads, SLP runners and a ZZ9 cam and I think it made around 305 RWHP and 380 TQ thru a T56.

But I would stay away from those heads because of the need for the special Vortec intake, and the lack of internal EGR means you need to hook up an external EGR off the headers like the Corvette TPI does.

Re: second opinion please

We live in California. Yes emissions matter. I hope you're at least keeping the cat on it.

You will need to get the chip customized to remove the EGR code, as you said.
