What was it worth? crossfire

I am trying to find out a proper value for a 83 camaro z28 t-top with crossfire injection. last friday my car was totaled when it was parked in front of my daughter's school. No one was hurt, just shaken. Now I need to find out what the replacement cost will be so I can properly fight with the insurance.
I like the crossfire system and am planning to replace the car with an other crossfire camaro. any help on value or location would be helpful.
thank you

Re: What was it worth? crossfire

you should look in the news papers too. if you have pics that show it was extreamly clean you might be able to claim classic and get more money.
cal does not have a replacement value statute but fair market value.
look on these car for sale and see what you can find.
there are a lot of camaro boards so look at them all but local is better.
kelly blue book and the like dont take into account collector value.
they will give you an offer and then tell you if you want to keep the car they will reduce the offer for salvage.
http://edmunds.autotrader.com/fyc/se...=1243183514766 is a site that shows 8 for sale - i did not look myself i just narrowed the search
sorry to hear about the car.

Re: What was it worth? crossfire

The insurance game is interesting when it comes to vehicles like ours that are no longer a 'common commodity'. Be sure to develop a clear reason why your car is 'special' and dosn't fall under typical blue book values.

You probably already understand that your personal insurance company will only replace up to the common factory parts and values. If it's the 'other party's' insurance, they have to bring your vehicle back to the condition or value you had it. If yours is modified or has special hard to find parts, you will need to hire a classis/custom car proffesional who has a licence to estimate vehicle values for banks and insurance companies.

If you choose to go by blue book, remember, camaros are worth more in california than in Oregon or Nevada.

Do you have pics of your car in any car shows or car club group shots???
Best of Luck, Nitro-Nicky
(This is a good example of why my IROC is insured as a parade/show vehicle for close to $40k)

Re: What was it worth? crossfire

Well we finally came to an agreement with the insurance co.
$8,000 and we get to keep the salvage.
so.... in the near future there might be some parts for sale in northern ca.(way north)
the good news is that we will be replacing the car this saturday. We found an other 83 crossfire camaro-no t-top that will replace the one that we lost.
the lack of a t-top kinda sucks, but if the one we lost hard top then it would be able to live on as an enduro or weekly race.
a little advice to anyone who LOVES these cars is to get an appraisal it might not be the magic answer in the event of a loss, but it shuld not hurt.

Re: What was it worth? crossfire

My wife is happy again, we drove half way down California and got her "new" baby '83 z28 Crossfire. we might have enough to pick up a cheep fixer that many of the parts from the old car can go into. as far as pics I will have to figure out how to post a pic. the old car is in sad shape. but the new one is very nice for 26 years and 77,000 mi, normal wear but some *** in a newer mustang gt scraped the pass mirror at the store. but life goes on and as I said my wife is happy again and as they say "happy wife...happy life"
