So maybe the title is misleading, but I just bought my wife an '85 Chevy Silverado 4X4 that has been converted over to '91(Camaro) SD TPI. It has Edlebrock smog legal headers, 700R4 trans. with shift kit, 4" susp.lift, 33"X12.5 on a 15" alum. rim. I've never had a 4X4 before, so this is all new territory for me. I have plenty of friends who are into it, both on this board and locally, who will guide me along to give the wife a killer truck. Plans are to replace the glass, interior with black door panels, headliner and dashpad. I'll probably paint or die the carpet as it is new. It needs new front/rear bumpers as they are mismastched. We are ordering new glass ASAP as the rear has a slider and the windshield is cracked. With my '54 Chevy truck running TPI, my wife's '85 converted, my IROC coming with it, and the 5.7 motor sitting in my garage ready to be torn down and rebuilt for a Father Son project, I guess you could say I dig 3rd Gen TPI. I'll post pics of the Silverado later.

After my wife gave me 2X the amount I told my her I needed to finish it, I had to temporarily pull the plug on the '54. It sits in the garage with my Harley. Now that the wife has a pick up, I'll focus my energy into it until she is happy with it. Then maybe back to the '54. By then the IROC will need attention, and then the Tahoe, etc, etc. Having old vehicles is fun, but no car payment=working on them all the time, lol.
Sounds great Dan! Hit me up sometime. TPI FTW.. though I dont own one anymore

Here's a shot of it this morning after a rainy night:
More pics of it after a nice waxing on a sunny day! I really need to clean up the under hood and shoot a few pics there as well.

Heeey, I have a 76 GMC Jimmy 4x4 myself. My brother in law has an 87 K-5 and one of my best friends has an 88. Welcome to the club and check out www.ck5.com if you want a site that's alot like this but for 73 to 91 GM trucks.
Being an 85 that thing should have 27 spline 10 bolts in them. Watch out if you take it off-road, the axle shafts in those things snap all the time if you have a heavy foot. I'd upgrade to one ton's if you plan to off road, or at least 30 spline 10 bolt's from the 88 to 91 Blazers. If you stay with 33 or 35 inch tires and have a light foot off road, they should live fine though.
Looks like springs up front and blocks out back on the lift. Swap those blocks out for a 4 inch shackle flip and you'll ride soooo much better on and off road.
Great to see another Chevy truck enthusiast. They are some of my favorite vehicles in the world.
Hope the Camaro guys aren't offended but I am in the process of converting my 1985 GMC Sierra Classic over to TPI. I'm the second owner and except for a lift kit, the truck is all original. Got an L98 SD TPI out of a 90 Vette and I am rebuilding it to go with the stock 700R4, .373 gears, Eaton Super Posi and 33s. Even though you bought your truck converted, I may have a bunch of questions, like where did they put the ECM?
It's been a while since I have posted anything on the Silverado. I bought 1 ton axles (DANA 60 front/Corp.14 bolt with a full float). I've heard that you can get the disc brakes form a 77 Caddy, and do a rear disc swap? Anyways for $1100, I got both axles and a pair of mirrors as wells as a newer front bumper. I've also swapped the v-belt acc. to the serpentine belt. I still need to burn a chip so the elect. fan comes on. The previous owner had the fan turned off as he was running a drive fan. The radiator will be replaced after I get the transmission leak fixed and the 1 ton axles on. Sometimes it's fun to have projects, other times, it frustrating!
Hey Daniel! I just realized I never returned your call from the other week, my apologies, I have been real busy with school and work. I promise to hit you up sometime soon!
