Greetings!!! Looks like this must be where the rest of the frozen tundra crowd hangs out!!! My name's Dave, I live in Madison, SD. In the process of putting an '82 together.... If your a restoration and numbers matching purist, you probably won't like me very much!!!! I have a sign in the garage that describes what I do, it sez, "Anybody can restore a classic, but it takes a man to cut one up". No offense meant, different strokes for different folks....I guess.
I'm 58 years old, and been doing the Hot Rod thing for better then 40 years. Done some road racing, circle burning, bunch of drag racing, and a few Saturday night on the public road action.... Hate to admit it here, but I'm primarily a Ford and Mopar guy, got into this Camaro cuz a guy owed me some money and it came down to take the car or get nothing.... Well, now that I'm into the build I'm having a blast and really enjoying the challenges of building a 3rd Gen F-Body!!!!! I'm not a complete convert yet, but I sure have become appreciative of the potential of these cars!!!!
Gonna hang out for awhile, see what I can learn and maybe even offer a bit of advice here and there. Good to be here!!!!
Thanks guys.. Plans for the car include 6 point roll bar, frame ties, some engine setback, stroker engine, 5 speed, and a 9" rear. Also in the process of some body mods--got to be unique, ya know!!! Mostly just something to go out and play with the kids....
Glad to have you! Have questions, we'll do what we can to answer them.
I do have a lot of extra stock parts leftover off the '82... Wondering what the site's policy--and general acceptance--of newbies coming on here and posting a bunch of for sale ads.... I know it's frowned on many places....
PS--Added a couple more pics in my gallery today, got a bit of work done on the driver's footbox and began mocking up some panels to put a bit of stiffening back in the front floor and firewall area. Also added a cowl hoop to tie the car side to side and vertically.
Just as long as you stay true to your word (and ship products people paid for in a timely matter), I don't think you will have any problems being new and posting multiple items in the classifieds.
I agree with five7kid that we be more than willing to try to answer questions of yours. However, after taking a few looks of the ride you are building, I think you already surpassed any questions I might be able to answer. Looks like I'll be asking you questions instead

Yeah, I've always like building unique cars... It's a long, slow process when you have to fab everything,,,guess I'm just bored with the bolt-ons or something.....
Thanks for the link regarding placing an ad, too!

Well, not sure that will be the case.... I like to ask questions and gain information from other's ideas and experience! This is my first Camaro build, so it has offered some challenges, wish I had found this site earlier, sure would have saved a lot of trial and error on my car!!!!! Heck, I've always figured that learning must be difficult for those people who think they already know everything!!!! Seems every site has their fair share of self-proclaimed "experts"!!!!! I'm sure you have to deal with them here, too.....

Every time I look in the mirror. . .
People who think they know it all sure annoy those of us who do.
Okay, all seriousness aside. . .
The nice thing about this Board is people like that are soon put in their place. I don't know of any member that knows all there is to know, but there will be someone who knows what you need to know.
Welcome Radical 82. I live less than 80 miles from you here in God's country. I have been a member here for several years now and have not posted much, but, the knowlege of the TGO members has helped me immensly (spelling?). There is not much that has not been tried here, or many questions that go unanswered. Use the experiance because it is invaluable. Keep us posted on your progress. We are interested. Randyz91
Thanks for the welcome Randy!!! Let me know if you're coming through this way sometime!!! Always around--except when it's really cold then I go hide in Texas!!!!!!

One of our local bracket racer legends around here celebrated his birthday this year at the 4th of July race...He's 73 now and still runs low 10's!!!! Tough on the lights, too--sez racing is what keeps him going and keeps him healthy!!!!

Not to one-up, but we have an 83-year-old who runs mid-10's, at altitude. He changed the rear gears from 5.13's to 4.56's so he wouldn't be too close to 9.99, because then he'd need to pass a physical. . .

Hey, if you can get in the car without too much help and still get off the light on the right day, why not???? I don't plan on quitting anytime soon either!!!!! 83 is a perfect age to be running mid 10's!!!!!
