We've been kicking some ideas around about different things to do for our annual Thirdgen party and we're considering adding a car raffle every year. Tickets would be $50 each and I'd need to sell around 50 or 60 to make it worthwhile. The raffle would be for a blue '91 RS. The car is blue with a black interior and has a 305 TBI engine. It is a very nice car and easily worth at least $3000. I'd start selling the tickets right away if there is enough interest and would draw the winner the night of the party. This raffle would be open to anybody so you don't have to be at the party to win. Also, if you have anybody else interested let them know. If there is enough interest I'll get it going for this year and it will be an annual thing along with the party. If you would be interested in tickets for $50 reply to this post so I can decide if its worthwhile or not. I think this would be a really cool thing to do every year so, hopefully, there are enough people interested to make it happen.

Wow, I figured there would be more interest than this!!! C'mon people, this is your chance to own a very nice '91 RS for only $50. I would need to sell at least 55 tickets at $50 each to make this worthwhile. I wouldn't sell any more than 65 so at the worst you have a one in 65 chance at winning a car. This is definitely something Beth and I want to start doing every year. I know it's a little bit short notice for this year but I think its worth doing.

I would have to cancel it. There's no way I can let a $3000 car go for $500. That's why I'm trying to find what kind of interest there would be before I do it.
OK...... Denny just posted in another thread that the party is FREE!!! That's the GOOD 4 letter "F" word for those that don't know. Actually you can add another good 4 letter "F" word to that....... FREE FOOD!!!!!
The ***LEAST*** we can do is buy tickets so Denny can make some money on this car!!!!!
Think of it this way...... You're getting FREE FOOD and FREE DRINK...... an entire day of meeting new people who share the same interest in cars that you do....... get to see ALL KINDS of cool cars and it could ONLY cost you $50!!!!
In addition...... you have a chance to win a
FREE CAMARO!!!!!!!
(that good 4 letter "F" word again)
I know not a lot of you think you can't fork out $50 because you have 40 other things going on, but let me put it to you this way.....
I've been laid off work since August of 2002. I on unemployment right now. My wife is working full time bringing home ~$250/ wk. We have a house payment, property taxes, insurace for the house, insurance for the cars, water bill, gas bill, electric bill, cable, internet server, food, clothes, etc. etc. and we're gonna buy a frikkin' ticket. Can't you?????
The meeting is a little over 1 month away. (That's 4 weeks for the stupid people) Just save up $12.50 per week, and you have a chance to win a FREE CAMARO!!!
And I'm not sure how Denny would fell about this, but you could turn around and sell that car the next day for ~$2500-3000 and have that much more $$$ to spend on YOUR OWN CAR!!!
Even if all the tickets are sold, you have a 1 in 65 chance of winning. Your chances of getting an "A" on a math test aren't that high. :sillylol:
COME ON PEOPLE!!!!
Don't you want a chance to 1.) Help Denny out and 2.) WIN A CAR?!?!?!
Re: Denny don't argue with this!!!!! Just SHUT UP!!!

Actually, this would help me out but its really not that big of a deal. I can sell just sell the car like I normally would and still do fine. I just think this would be something really cool to do every year. I'm really hoping this turns into a HUGE thirdgen gathering every year. What better way to finish off a big thirdgen event than to give one away every year. Next year I'd like to set up a non-required $50 registration fee. The party would still be free but people who pay the $50 would be registered to win thirdgen items such as wheels, seats, misc thirdgen stuff, and a car!!! If there's not enough interest we won't get it going but I think this would just be a great way to finish off the event year.
it's already going huge, you had what 9-10 cars last year? now you've got 21 coming and like 50 people? by that rate of expansion, next year nets 45+ cars and 100+ people

We have more than 21 cars coming... the caravan alone has like 20. Then theres some people from Indiana and some non-TGO memebers. If everyone who says they're going actually goes, I'd say we'll have 40+ cars this year, plus all Denny's cars

I was just going by the actual list....i guess half of you didn't sign it? how is denny supposed to know how much food and stuff to have?
LFN AT U: I bet that's the 91RS I was suspose to get from you but never got enough cash to get. Hell yeah i'll give $50.00 for a one in 65 chance to win a '91 worth $3000.00. Unlike others on this board I have actually seen this car so come on and buy a ticket and help me win this car. PLEASE
AJ_92RS: You're life sounds like my life the last couple of years since the big layoff. I guess everyone's money is tight. But I hope I win the car and I learned a long time ago "You can't win if you don't play."

Yep, that's the one. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's going to be enough interest this year. Right now it looks like I'd only be able to sell maybe half the tickets I need to. I'm not giving up hope on this but it's not looking to promising. I'm just suprised more people aren't willing to dish out $50 for a shot at winning a very nice thirdgen.
Hey, that wouldn't be a problem. That's the day I would expect to sell the majority of them. However, I'm still a little short on people to make this worthwhile. Spread the word around, and hopefully, we can get it going. I'd need to sell at least 55 tickets in order to do it.
