Okay, in yet another effort to clean this board up and return it to its once fine state, we are revisiting our sale post policy.
Here is what i wish to do. We will allow for sale posts to continue, but they will be re-directed to the for sale section.
Basically, this means that your post will be here and there for 3 days. After the 3 days your post will be deleted from here but remain in the far sale section.
That will let you get your local attention, but also help keep the board clean.
Any thoughts on this. I have not discussed this with jeremy, but i do not think he will be upset over this.
I personally like that the mods allow us to post parts for sale in this section. I hate dealing with shipping, so I have bought and sold a lot of items in this section. However, the sale ads have kinda taken over the section so I see why you want to clean it up. But 3 days isn't very long before they are deleted. I usually check in on the board every day or two, but I know a lot of people don't. So I would suggest they stay up for a week before being deleted form this section.
i still vote for one stickied post that allows you to post for sale items, then you can edit them as they are sold. If inquiring about certain parts should be done through PM only and if all your parts are sold, 2 months have gone by, etc etc then one of you could delete them. Shouldn't be more than 20 posts long at the most as there aren't 20 active people on the chicago board.
Okay, well, with the first round i put them at 3 days. If people want, we can try a week.
Steve, I like your idea, let me see if i get it though.
I would start a thread regarding for sale posts, everyone who wanted to sell something would get ONE post in that thread which they would edit as needed?
yup everyone gets 1 post in the thread, that can be edited if/as needed while they are selling things. ANY responses inquiring about items for sale are done through PM only, which would clear up the 40 for sale posts. As long as people are smart enough to not reply to the thread I think it would work out well.
They dont like adding sub-forums except where necessary.
I could go for the one week rule and redirected, that way people wont miss out on something if they dont come here for a couple days.
I dont have any issues with the PM's either then it might help cut down on some traffic, but anyone not on this board specifically would still post.
However if people could comprehend simply not putting up 10 for sale posts themselves or stacking the board full of them when other people already have 4-5 up there would make sense to, but we see how well that works(not)
Jeremy is alive!!!!! woo woo. I hear texas is like 110 out right now. I couldn't handle that. So what are you all doing with this subject? 1 stickied for sale post? Or just ?

I actaully like the idea of a sticky thread with everyones adds being on one post as I buy alot of parts to and it would save me lots of time, I also have alot of local stuff which I only want to sell local or would gladly trade for parts I need which is why I post it in the Chicago Section because when its on the big post I always get some retard asking me to ship a engine I couldnt even put in the back of my car to take somewhere and so forth
Problem with the sticky is I do think idoits would start posting on it as I like the PM idea but I doubt it would work because of only a few,
We are leaving the redirect to the for sale section up for SEVEN days. Allowing things to be sold here is getting out of hand due to the fact that is all that goes on here.
So this was an attemp to curb it for a while till things pick up. We are not the only region doing so. It was a pretty heavily discussed topic in the MOD board and this voted has the best answer.
I mean, you are still getting 7 days of local coverage.
no one meets up and it's just one big classified with a lot of traffic, because a lot of people post in those threads to buy local parts i guess. 10 threads were all for sale and no meeting posts, because no one comes out on this board....last time i had to invite 4 of my friends for the hooters gathering so we had 6 total not counting me, but including my 4 friends. how gay.
We've come to the decision on making it a policy to have a 5-day redirect on classified ads being posted in the Regional sections. We believe this is the best solution. It allows 5-days for the ad to be seen in the regional (local) section, then after 5-days, the ad is permanently moved to the proper classifieds section and no longer linked from the regional (local) section.

Thanks
Straight from an ADMIN, not open for discussion.
then why did my ad that i posted last night get moved within 12 hours
1) You put your for sale post up.
2) Tim or Jeremy moves it to the For Sale board, but it is still VISIBLE here for 7 days.
4) 7 days after it was moved, it disappears from this board, but it is still in the For Sale boards.
They're doing everyone a favor. Cleans the board up, and its getting you coverage here AND in the For Sale section.

But seriously I like having being able to post local items up for sale on our board, who wants to search the Whole classifieds section which includes the whole USA when you can see what your friend and/or neighbor is selling. I thought this board was to "Help each other out" and if so the items for sale should stay.

Kevin, helping each other is def the spirit of the board. However, the powers that be think it is getting too far off course and have decided to implement a new rule.
You are still getting your local coverage with this new method. This is actually double coverage.
