thanks man... now the motor is out and ive got alot of cleanin and paintin to do. Ive got my powerbulger hood(MINT!) for sale as well as a LG4 and a stock gastank
update... sumped tank is in (thanks Smokin87ta) and my engine bay has one coat of some rust stop flat black... should i leave it flat black or go gloss??
i was thinkin the same thing but the flat black just seems to look dirty all the time. and im brushing it on so brush streaks are hard to keep outta the flat.... i think im gonna get some gloss for a top coat.

If your going to brush it on use a foam brush and a furniture foam roller... no more brush marks and the finish will be smooth as possible. You really should spray it though. I know masking is a pain in the *** but you only have to do it once if its done well.
alright so i decided to go with the gloss... i laid down 3 coats of flat for primer and got one coat of gloss on it tonight. it already looks way better imo. ill have pics up tomorow after i touch up the spots i missed(i'm sure i missed some i got caught in the dark)
UPDATE! motor is in and headers are mounted... had problems with the prothane poly inserts so ended up with new stock rubber motor mounts... oh well. headers bolted up as well
ok nother update.. trans is in and accesories are on the motor. i just painted the stock brackets an pulleys an reused them it looks pretty good i think
for these 2 i just slapped the carb on it to see how that looks... man this motor is tall. you can see the carb actually clears the stock cowl height... goo thing i went with the 4"

thanks guys for all the support... The motor is a 1998 5.7 vortec out of a silverado. its got mild porting in the heads and a xe274 flat tappet cam with an rpm airgap and a 750dp on top.
