Received copy of dealer invoice and the results are...
Well i took the liberty of purchasing a dealer's invoice for my car from the GM archives site (cost is $50 bucks) and i have to say i'm very upset with the results. All i got was a mesley piece of paper with very limited information. Infact about 1/3 of it is blank! I wouldn't be so upset if it showed all the factory options that "supposively" be listed....but not even 1/2 is shown! I attach a pic of what was sent to me. This will be the only time I'll ever purchase something like this again for that kind of money. The only other documentation that was sent with the invoice was my receipt for the purchase and a "were you satisfied?" inquiry....obviously i'm not!
However, one good thing came out of this, I did a lil bit of research with the invoice...as scripted my car was purchased from a dealer called Heritage Motors in Oregon IL, so i end up doing a google map search of the given address and low and behold i found out there's a dealership there! However, the dealership looks like it's been replace by the name Brian Bemis Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac...(perhaps at one time it was Heritage Motors.) The good thing is that the address and the location seems legit. I'm really happy to know that my car was at least purchased, delivered, and driven in the Rockford area. Even my old carfax report documents that the my GTA has been residing in such towns as Pecatonica, Stillman Valley, Loves Park, Cherry Valley, and even in Rockford. In conclusion, all towns including where the car was purchase seem to be located in Northwest IL region. So at least its satisifying to know that my car was only driven locally and not nationally.

what did you expect the invoice to show exactly? you might have wanted to buy a rpo list if you wanted more detailed info. If you go look at a brand new cars invoice that is how short they are as well. I am thinking this is more for research purposes to put in a book for a show but nothing "cool" to look at IMO.

Re: Received copy of dealer invoice and the results are...
well, i expect the invoice to show a lil more info then what i received...
my uncle purchase a invoice as well for his 85 Camaro and his piece of paper displays alot more information then mine. Infact he even had the replica copy from the original owner that came with the car and just about all the information on it with the copy from GM archive, matches...
oh well, and yea it's somewhat for show/ historic significance
Re: Received copy of dealer invoice and the results are...
That is what mine looks like.
Its short because mostly everything on your car was ordered via a package.
Too bad you did not jump on the offer a few years ago. There was a woman member on here that worked for GM and all you had to do is send her your VIN and she was sending out the invoices for free.

Re: Received copy of dealer invoice and the results are...
actually i do have a package that's from PHS that gave me all the details for the 89 Model year...engines, rpos, production runs and such. It was avalible a few years ago via order for about 50 bucks...and it's huge package, gotta be at least 30 sheets of info all attached...unfortunately it didn't come with a dealer stock photo as certain vehicles phs packages would come. It just didn't have a dealer invoice or window sticker. Still gonna be looking for Buildsheet...err where can it be....

Yeah, i got that too. I only had the Y84 package. My car was such a mess when I bought it I was never sure it was a real GTA and the RPO sheet is missing fromt eh car. At least the invoice settled that question for me. At the time I cared, now I don't. It could turn out to be a clone or a TA and I wouldn't have cared.

No idea, I'd got to Pontiac Historical Service, but i have a Pontiac, you don't. You might try inquiring at a dealer, or seaching the TGO past threads.
Re: Received copy of dealer invoice and the results are...
If you like paperwork, check with your local DMV and ask about getting a title history. I did it here in Indiana. It cost me under $20 and it gave me copies of titles for every owner of my car including 3 other states it was in, all the way back to the original owner and the bank that financed the car for her.
Re: Received copy of dealer invoice and the results are...
Depending upon the year of your car, PHS is sh_it. That's all I got from them, (an invoice), for $70 about a year ago. The newer your vehicle is, the less they have for it. I checked under both rear seats: no build sheet. And, some moron had removed the SPID sticker before I got the car. If I could find somewhere to get them, I'd be thrilled. Also, every dealer I've ever spoke to about it has always politely told me to go pound salt.

didn't noticed this question till now since this topic is still going...that's cool to know that BB's was the original place where my car was bought...
unfortunately, no it doesn't show previous owners...but what i found intriguing after reading the invoice again that the car was special ordered from the original owner and that the car came with the dealer code Y11-VIP plus program, it's not on the SPID on my car so I did a search on what that option is all about and this what i found out it is:
Special privilages given to the customer who pre-ordered their vehicle. A Package with a "VIP" envelope was given to the customer, giving information such as when the car was built, what employee's was working on the car at time of construction, and a customer service program for sceduled maintence services/warrentee info./coupons/ free rental info, etc....
..wish i got the VIP program documentation that came with the car, it would of been nice to add to my collection that i'm building.
