The poster is the son of the original owner and really isnt a car guy( at all) . But after looking at it for awhile its one of the cleanest gtas(floor pans) Ive seen and has tons of bolt ons. I had to have it and thats that. What do you guys think of it? http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/1376610221.html
it seems like a nice car, but calling it a callaway gta? hehe that's kinda funny to hear...
didn't know a gta came with recaro seats, either! I believe your right about the guy not knowing his stuff on the car. Rare australian vin for the rear end?
Anywho, despite the facts or fictional statements, congrats! Hope you enjoy your new ride to the fullest...

Oh it was enertaining to discuss the car for a couple of hours to say the least. He really was as nice a guy as they come though, I did enjoy talking to him and lending a hand with some facts. Well its an australin 9 bolt,,,,
THAT WAS A STEAL! Looks great to me.. I mean Supercharged and a Superram right there you could sell for like $2500 easy. I would say you came out way ahead. I bet it is pretty quick.
All that and it looks really clean too. You stole that thing!

*Just a little Vortec set up*
thanks guys, the under carriage is the cleanest Ive ever seen on a thirdgen, I couldnt believe it. As far as the computer goes there is a white serial port cable coming from behind the dash on the ecu side, dont have a clue what is being used for a ecu to manage everything but its something programable.
this $3800 keeps streching it self out.. its at my friends in Indiana and we did some work on it this weekend and found out some more info..
the serial cable is coming from a Gen6 dfi Accel ecm,, it has brand new 2" drop springs on it,,,the throttle door measure 52mm,, and I decided to clean up the engine bay and tach up some sfc's and here is what I found
I cant believe it has AFR heads on it,,,, I started jumping around like a little school girl( until my fiance called me just that)... Im not sure what size they are but either way Im stoked. She is coming along and will be out next spring
AFR heads are aluminum, those have rust on them as far as i can tell in the pics. I don't know many people who would paint an aluminum head instead of leaving it "as cast"

fricking a.............you stole that thing. btw how fast is that sucker? supercharged? intake, headers, roller rockers. damn............. 11 seconds easy
turbocharged....... but nice find!!!! more pix of the whole car??
__________________ CLEARING HOUSE!! EVERYTHINGS FOR SALE- my car-selling as whole 1993 z28 lt1 ALUMINUM HEADS, brand new 305 HO and all the other parts i have. ask i prolly got it!
They are AFR heads and yes someone painted them, the stud girdle really blocks the head but they surely are.
I have no Idea how fast it is, the brake system needs alot so I never ran it wot for more than 2 sec and it was the fastest thing Ive been in....
wow seeing after seeing the pic with the wheels off makes me realize how puny our 3rdgen brake system is! Heck i see larger brake rotors on a 96 and up ford taurus! Newer luminas and up had aluminum calipers!....it's no wonder our stopping power to these 3,500lb machines are bad....and no Tim i am not changing my stock set up to a 4th gen one...let alone a 1LE...

thats funny you say that, Ive got a 10 bolt pbr setup with 12" baer rotors going on back and picking up a 12" LS1 conversion for the fronts on sunday. Should be a big difference
No sorry, thats actually my first Trans Am ever. My friend bought it after I threw @3k into it and failed emissions......then he dumped another 4k into it and its been sitting for 10 years..... I cant wait to tell him someone asked if it was being parted out...
Just went to have it titled today and it turns out the title is no good. He said he was selling it for his dad( whos name is on the title) and when I went to the dmv they said the car is titled in his name. He texted me hell call tonight @ 6. Anybody have any idea want this could mean leagally? ie he can take the car back and just repay me my $. Or do I have any kind of legal right to the car?

You must change your brakes!
New brakes will make such an amazing difference in your car.

I'd contact the DMV asap. Bring your bill of sale (I hope you had one made out and signed).
Finally got it back from Indiana, LS1 brake swap is done,,, had to add a comp vacuum canister just to get the brakes to work well enough to drive it home. title issues are resolved and I cant wait for next spring.
thanks.... once the 10 bolt is in itll be 12" cross drilled/slotted all the way around..... should stop decently once I get the vacuum pump or hydraboost installed to take care of the low vacuum situation..
Looking good, the ls1 brake upgrade is the last thing I want to do to my 92. How improved is the stopping on it now?
Couldnt say, the vaccum at idle is like 8-10# and even with @15-17# off idle and a cannister I didnt try any hard braking on the way home. I can say its noticable even when coasting to a stop but Im going to have to fab a hydraboost system or elec. vaccum pump for next spring before I get to feel the benefits..

Today I got the radiator, trans cooler, headers, plugs, msd billet distributor, some wiring and throttle body in. I also installed the superram intake and so help me god if there is a vaccum leak Im buying a miniram . The throttle body was ported at home to 52mm and larger blades were added.

Those are recaro seats. Std ultima seats.
Please ignore my original post after I have read the thread in its entirety. Supercharged Superrammed L98 sounds fun.
The new motor is in and all the engine bay wiring is done. Sill need to take it on the maiden voyage to the shop and finish welding in the SFCs, under coat it, change trans fluid n filter and get the cowl hood in primer. Hopefully its all done soon for thirdgen fest. Heres a few pics and a short video
Unfortunetly something is wrong with the car(fuel pump or pickup coil) so I couldnt make 3rdgen fest this year but we just tore out the interior for hush mat and stereo install and the floor looks pretty good,,,, thanks to everyone on this site for all the help and knowledge shared...
Got the seats back from my buddies shop this week,,, We removed the side plastics on the front and covered the rears to match with a carbon fiber style material on the sides and perforated leather in the center and changed the single stitch pattern (in the centers) to a raised double stitch
