Hey just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Fred and I live on the south side of indianapolis. I got my first sports car in 1997 it was a 1988 Formula Firebird 305tbi auto ws6. It was light blue with t-tops. I sold it to a guy in atlanta in 2001 w/ 145k miles and the engine on its way out. since then I have owned a number of cars
1996 Cutlass Supreme Sl
1992 Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo
1991 3000GT Vr4 Twin Turbo
1993 Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo
1993 Dodge Stealth Non-Turbo
1991 Ford Escort GT (beater to drive when the stealths were broken)

Current Cars 2000 VW Passat 1.8t(daily driver) and 1995 Mazda RX-7 (garage queen)

I put a 2000 LS1 and t56 into the RX-7 its a lot of fun. It runs low 12's in the 1/4mile on a basically stock setup.

I have been on craigs list alot lately and found a 1991 Formula Firebird project that someone had started. its in the process of going from a 305tbi to a 350tbi just needs to be finished and he is willing to trade me for my HD tv i have... Pretty good deal as long as its not too much work to finish. I hope to pick up the car this weekend and have it running next weekend but we will see. My plans for the car are to get it running in its current condition. fix the little issues, headlight motors, repaint front end(its currently in primer), then probably swap the trans out for a 5speed t5 trans then have myself a cheap fun car to tool around in.

here are some pictures I took the other weekend before pushing into the garage to get working on it.

here is a couple pictures from last year of my RX-7

here is a link to some info on the build i did http://www.venomspeedshop.com/RX7%20Build.htm

Well I hope this deal works out on that formula so I can officially be a third gen fbody owner once again!

Glad to be here
Fred

yeah thanks. The RX7 was definitely a costly project. And the Stealths can be purchased for cheap but quickly become expensive. Im pretty excited about the formula. I just need to find the time to get it running now.

thanks! I'm not sure how much I am going to end up doing to it. I am at least going to get it all cleaned up, running, then a fresh coat of paint on it. I need new weather stripping at the bottom of the windows, a headliner, and to fix the passanger side head light. Possibly a new center console arm rest and there is a tare in the drivers seat. So nothing major really.

Nice cars. That formula would look sweet with a new coat of the blue. That blue is killer on 3rdgens.

yeah I want to keep it factory blue with some new decals. My 88 had the lighter blue, I definitely like this darker blue much more.

Re: New Member (not new to FBodys)

I got the car running a few weeks ago, with the help of a friend who was in desperate need of a running car. He has been driving it with only minor problems here and there. Sounds like he is just going to buy it off me since he needs it more than I do. Kinda sucks I never got to enjoy it. I did find a nice 89 camaro with a 305 that needs a little work that the body is in great shape for $650 obo that I may try to pick up here soon if I can.
