What does a gutted 3rd Gen weigh with engine & drivetrain? I know that there will be varation from year to year and between models but please post your experience.

Car: 87 IROC L98
Engine: 588 Alcohol BBC
Transmission: Powerglide
Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
Should be around the 3000 pound mark for just the car with a SBC. 2900 bare minimum.

Last year when I weighed mine, the race weight (including driver and fuel) was under 3200 pounds. I also have a BBC, 6 point roll bar, powerglide tranny and Ford 9". I need to get across the scales again after the winter projects.

It really depends on how "gutted" it is. One persons gutted might not be as much as someone elses.

My front and rear bumpers are removed. The crash bars inside the doors are cut out. The entire heater/ac system is gone. There's absolutely no interior or molding. The steering column is just the shaft.

The winter projects included removing the 6 point roll bar and installing a 10 point cage and removing the rear hatch and installing a sheet of Lexan so I've added and removed weight.

2995 with a full tank of gas, NO DRIVER

My class says i can be 2750 so I will be pulling the crash bars front and rear and weighing them. need to pull 200 pounds off the car.

I had a 90 RS down to 2,700 + driver with an aluminum head 305 and 4L60E in it. Many parts were removed, some were fiberglass and some were removed with a sawzall. Basically trying to make a 305 move a trashed out car as fast as possible. After we got kicked off the track for lack of a cage, we pulled the drivetrain out and someone setup the car with a basic holley carbed vortec 350 and a TH-350 and ran mid 12s all day long in that car.

My car is a freak....84 t-top car 10 pt cage, vfn glass hood, sbc with iron heads, th400, and 9" weighs 2950 with my 185 in the seat....

That weight is according to the scales at my track that they use for stock and super stock classes.....

weighed my car yesterday and it weighed 2667 without me in it. i don't have a cage. i don't have a aftermarket rearend. 406 sbc. stripped to the max other than floor pans and fire wall.

mine is 3260 with me in it. 2980 without. iron 6.0 with heavy t56, nodular iron center in a 9", and a 5pt roll bar. still has a lot of the interior as i'm not yet willing to do without carpet and nice dash, etc. gutted underneath the dash though.

Mine weighs 2705 without me. Still has stock k member and back glass. Iron headed sbc, turbo 350, full ms cage, lexan ws and door glasses.

Back halved 1982 with a LS motor and powerglide, 9", 4 link. Fiberglass doors, hood and rear deck.....lexan on all windows. If it didn't serve a purpose, it was taken out.....gutted......yes....not even close to street legal

2215 w/o me......2485 pulling into the beams
