Spinning off the line! Which tires should I buy?

Right now I a running M/T Indy Profile SS tires 26" tall. I am getting
1.84 60ft times with them at about 18psi. The car will spin for 10-12ft off the line, then they try to break loose when I shift to 2nd.

I am running 3.73 gears, th350 with a 10" stall rated for 2700-3000. Im comming off the line between 2500-2800 and shifting around 6500. Im crossing the line between 5800-6000.

Which tires should I go with? Slicks, Dot's, drag radials?

Tires I am looking at:
M/T 26x8.5/15 slicks with L8 compound
M/T ET Streets Radial 26"
M/T ET Drag Radial
Hoosier Quick Time Pro

My current tires weight in at 30lbs each.
I noticed these other ones are in the 17-20lbs range.

The rest of my setup is in my sig.

What do you guys suggest?

I hook hard on tiny 235.50.15 ET Street radials. They drive awesome on the freway out the track but they weight a bit more than an ET Street. They would be enough tire for your combo for sure!

I think MT says the ET streets weight in at 26lbs.

Im hoping to pic up a few 10ths with more traction, cooler air and some tuning.

I ran 12.83 at 107.07 with like 8.33 1/8 mile. Cutting 1.84 60ft spinning. The temp was around 92* and the track was crappy. This with a 750vs carb!

26x10.50 ET streets would be nice, i'm running a set myself for this season on stock firebird rims that have been drilled and screwed. 13-15psi depending on the night.

I thought about giving my M/T Indy Profile SS one more try. I was running with 18psi the last time at the track.

Would trying say 16-14 psi help. I started at 25 then went to 20 then to 18.
I did noticed if I did a long burnout, they got greasy.

I will get different tires, but might try these one more time or is it even worth trying?

we use them on one of our chevelles as street tires that never hook up ever. They really have no place at the dragstrip if you want to be competitive. I'd look into ET drags or ET streets to fit whatever size rim you are running. I just barely hook up if launched correctly with my 26x10.50 ET streets since they are only 8" of tread width contact patch, but I'm sure I'm running a lot more power than you. My buddy cuts good times with the ET streets on his mustang and can pull the tires off the line with his 150 shot, so it's all about weight transfer

I second the drag radials!

They are awesome.
1.82 60ft with no spinning.

they must be spinning since as the nitrous increases your 60' goes down.

I went to a different track for the 75hp shot(Yorkton,SK) than the 100 and 125 shot(Neepawa,MB). Yorkton had a concrete pad with lots of traction. Sorry for the confusion.

Im only running a 15x7 rim. I would like to got to a 15x10, but will have to stick with the rims I have right now.

I dont drive it on the street much, and not at all in the rain.

15x7 rim then go for a 26x10.50 ET street. I have a set bolted up to stock firebird 15x7 rims that have been drilled and screwed. ugly rims but they work.

Thanks guys for the advice. I need to sell a few things before I can pick up a set. I hope to have a set in time for cooler weather.

I just hope the rear end will hold up. It is stock posi with richmond gears and 28 spline axles.

Oh yeah, I am running LCA relocation brackets. Without them I had bad wheel hop before.

depending on what height you'd need a 26x10.50 ET DRAG or 28x10.50 ET drag, You could also run hoosiers which i've had good luck in their 28x10 size.

manual trans run a ET street, mickey thompson's typically don't hook as well when using their drag radial on a manual car for some reason.

Bringing it back.

I have been looking a the Hoosier Quick Time Pros. They are only 17lbs compared to my M/T Indy SS which are 30lbs.

I am about 18-20 miles from the track. How bad would it be to drive without tubes to the track with the QTP's?

Is anyone running the Hoosiers?

I found a good place to buy racing tires. They match the role out unlike jegs or summit.
