Going to the track this weekend, and my buddies and I have been wildly speculating on what the LG4 will run at the track. My best guess is a 14.7 at 92mph, I'm basing that largely on its ability to consistently just edge out stock 05+ Grand Prix GTP's on the street, and those run a 14.7 to a 14.9 pretty consistently. I'd like to know what you guys estimate.
The car is running good, it was jetted a bit fat for the 80*+ days, but as its cooled off outside, the cars got even quicker. I found some more power off idle with some idle adjustment as well. The motor is a 305 crate motor with 20k miles or so on it. 204/214 .422/442 Summit hydr. flat tappet cam, stock heads. A rejetted Edlebrock 1406 through a GMMP ZZ3 (Edlebrock Performer clone from what I'm told) intake, fired by a Summit HEI vacuum advance. Exhaust is SLP shorties and y-pipe, 3" catback, hi-flow cat. The trans is fresh, 10k miles, 2500rpm stall, upgraded servos, and shift kit, out to a worn but working posi with 3.73 gears in a 10-bolt. BFG-KDW 245's on all four corners. The suspension is actually probably hurting the hook a little, I've got a poor LCA angle, but the car hooks decent on the street and I'm sure will bite good at the track.
So, provided I can keep the fuel bowl in the carb full the whole length of the track (I'm not sure if I'm fighting a dying fuel pump, or a clogged filter, hoping to at least change the filter by Friday) what do you think it'll run?

Well, the real carb I took off this motor wasn't working to hot, and this was a cheap replacment that was pretty easy to tune, a lot more so than a CC-Qjet. I'll say this, this "junk" carb with a little tuning and jetting runs quite a bit better than the Qjet that came off the car, no flat spots, no bog, plenty of throttle response. I think "real" heads would be a better investment.
so what did it run? im curious to see what a mildly modded LG4 does in the quarter as i own one myself
I was denied the chance, I've had an intermitent fuel starvation problem since I've owned the car, and it was acting up Friday. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't taken the time to chase down the problem yet, but I got married this spring, and bought a house this summer, I've just been to busy. I may be able to crack off some times late October, we'll see. I'm betting 14.7 at 90mph.
What about an LG4 with Hedman shorties & y-pipe, full 3" exhaust, full UMI suspension, Eibach sportlines, 3.23 rear gear with an Auto, Mid 15's?

I think thats about right. Maybe a little better if its well tuned, and you crank the timing up some, the LG-4's CC-distributors spark map is pretty anemic from what I'm told.
i would think youd do better than mid 15s... thats what i ran in my auto, peg leg 3.23 geared, 84' LG4 Z28 with only the following mods:
- dynomax 2.5" catback
- 3" open element paper filter
- flex fan
- A/C and AIR delete
- 180* stat
- timing bumped to 8* BTDC
the car went 16.0 at 85mph with a 2.3 60ft 100% bone stock, and with the above mods it went 15.6 at 87mph with a 2.2 60ft... and it was July to boot! no doubt it couldve done better in cooler air. youre car has shorty headers, and suspention work over my car. id say at least low 15s provided you can hook
