I'm living in Germany and I was able to drive on Nurburgring about a month ago, and I got it on tape! I finally got it uploaded on Youtube, so here it is. I had never been on the track before, or even played it in video games, so my four laps where a blast! It was a very challenging track and I don't know if I'll ever drive it at 100%, but it was still an awesome experience. For those who don't know the Nurburgring in Germany, here's a quick excerpt: "Once nicknamed Die Grüne Hölle (the Green Hell), the North Loop includes most of the historic Nürburgring. These facts may help you put it in perspective: 13 miles long, over 170 turns (depending on how you count them), about 1000 feet of elevation change from lowest to highest points, a two-mile long straightaway, and four towns and a 12th-century castle are located within its perimeter." Well, I see your problem, too much body roll in the corners. You need to keep your upper torso and head more vertical. j/k
I would love to run that track.
My wife is on notice, if I have to tag along to visit her relatives in wein, she has to reserve me a vehicle capable of 160 mph + so I can run that track.

Looks like a lot of people there, was there a lot of down time waiting to get on the track. and what is the cost per lap. and is a helmet required.

Very nice. Man those Porsche's are plentiful out there. Those would have pissed me off pretty good. Getting in your way even when you were trying to park your car.

It's amazing how every single corner is on the top of a hill, the bottom of a hill, or on the side of a hill. What an insane track that is...

What brakes are you using? At the moment with the stock brakes I don't want to go to any tracks, apart from the drag strips!

Yea, I did have a lot of body roll... lol. It didn't take too long to get on the track. you have to exit the track after each run, but you can get back in line real easy to run again. The cost is 19 euro's per lap, but it's cheaper to buy several. I paid around 70 euro's for 4 laps (around $100 with our poor exchange rate). I think I've seen that video, that guy is hauling ***! There are video's with other race cars going even faster

Yea, you have to be on your toes at the Ring. All types of cars and bikes, even tour buses! No matter how fast your going, someone will pass you too.

They're Auto Meter Sport Comps and I made the mounting plate out of aluminum, it's anodized black. 5" tach and 160mph speedo, water temp, oil press, battery and fuel gauge; all electric.

Thanks That was about 9 min 48 seconds. I still have a lot of practice to do before I'll be really fast. I don't want to push it too hard either, I can't afford to wreck this car!

No kidding! Almost every corner is a blind turn I've heard some professional drivers say you need to do at least 100 laps before you can drive it hard.

Come on down! Post up on fbodyeurop.org when you do. I have 13" Baer Track Plus in front and 13" Tracks in back. I also have a Hydroboost brake system; this has caused the fluid to boil on autocross runs but it was fine out here. I'm going to install a cooler this winter though.

Just curious here, I spent 2 years in Karlsruhe in the 60's thanks to my Uncle Sam. What brought you to germany, or are you a native.

I'm stationed here with the Air Force, but I like being in europe; this is my second assignment over here.

When I was there we had a rich-kid 1st louie that had a couple of alpha spiders he raced over there, I dont think nurmbergring was open then. He found a Ferreri with a blown engine he bought dirt cheap and sent a list of parts he needed to Ferreri. They sent him a credit check form with a letter, we do not sell cars or parts to just anyone, if you meet our standards we will talk to you.

Thanks for the compliments I'm guessing you saw the car on High Performance Pontiac's site, they published an article back in October.

The camera mount was really simple, I don't have a roll cage inside. I took an adjustable camera tri-pod and mounted it behind the front seats. Two legs stretched into the rear passenger foot wells and the third leg was on top of the rear seat back rest (the back rest was lowered). The tri-pod was held in place with two bungee cords stretched very tight. I thought it might move some, but the video looks pretty steady.

You have an awesome car! I'm moving to Germany in about a week and am trying to sell my car, but now I really want to bring it with me maybe I'll talk to the wife and see what she thinks of that plan. Great video btw

There aren't that many over here, so it is nice having a different car. With the 6 speed you should get decent mileage too. BUt depending on how much you like your car, you may want to get something else for the winters. They use salt on the roads and you have to worry about ice most of the winter.

Yeah that was one of the reasons I was trying to sell it, I hate the weather over there 80% of the time it is raining or jsut overcast, summers are nice though. I think if I do bring it I would definately have to buy a beater from one of the joes over there, I know when I was stationed there there were plenty of deals from people PCSing

Great videos! The only track time I have on Nurburgring is on Gran Turismo 4. It's pretty much the only track I feel like I haven't mastered yet. The track is so long that its hard to remember how to fast you can take certain turns and where to start braking and such. Plus the blind corners and some of those odd elevation changes... but I would still love to do that in real life sometime.

I do feel pretty lucky having the chance to drive that track and you're right about all the turns and elevation changes. It will take A LOT of practice to get good there!

I've heard of rental companies that let you drive on the track but I don't know the cost. You should look them up if you can get over here on vacation
