Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
I was wondering if anyone had there chassis dyno hp numbers and 1/4 mile time slips , so we can compare the 1/4 mile times ? See what rwhp equals with different combos in the 1/4 mile.
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
MPH is the best indication of HP. You can spin off the line and get a poor ET but still run relatively the same MPH as if you hooked up right off the line.
If set up properly, a car can ET and MPH very close to the same HP level. My last race last fall, my ET calculated 723.00 corrected HP and the MPH calculated 735.78 corrected HP. Uncorrected it was 637.31 and 648.57.
I do all my tuning based on MPH.
Don't forget HP and ET mean nothing unless you're comparing apples to apples. Yank the engine out of my car and drop it into a 1500 pound altered and it will run low 8's. Same HP, different ET. Third gens with a weight range of over 500 pounds will give very different results with the same HP.

Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
I agree but at least this gives us something to go buy for the average street car not a typical drag car, most street cars meaning third gens are typically compairably. I am willing to bet the in a group of 10 street racing third gens there will not be that much disparity for the same rwhp #s. That is what numbers I am looking for. Something to really compare data with. An average sort of median number. It should be interesting if people post up!
Like 300rwhp third gen= roughly say 12.9s this is an example of what I mean.
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
What we're saying though is you can't make that comparison. Two cars with 300 RWHP, one with 2.73 gears and one with 4.11 gears will have very different ET. Both will trap at about the same speed though.
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
Thats exactly what I am saying, I am not trying to re-invent the wheel !
Lets see the disparity between RWHP and 1/4 times produced for that one vehicle. If anyone has both pieces of data it would be intersting to compare there RWHP to there time slips. Not just car to car but car to rwhp. I know there is a million differnet combo's but it would be interesting to see what people are actually doing with there RWHP number.

254whp 315wtq. Ran best of 12.957 at 103.8 mph on a 1.71 60 foot, at near sea-level like weather/DA. Raceweight of about 3450 lbs or so. warmer 60-70 degree days it goes 13.2-13.3's at 100-101

Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
12.3 at 109 in a 3250lb(including half tank of gas plus my 160lb), most of the HP calculators out there(based on MPH) put my car at 330rwhp with that weight.
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
Car weighs 3690 with me in it according to the gainesville scales. The 482 rwhp was a 175 shot.
Stock 16" wheels, 15lb bottle in the trunk(even on n/a runs), tools in the back seat, laptop, etc. I used to trust people in the pits leaving my tools and wheels there, but not anymore, and I know the nitrous bottle would 'walk away'.
Next time I go to the track will be with the draglights on.

"I thought with the new motor it was much closer to 400rwhp?"
Nope, the dyno barometric pressure was off. So the above numbers are pretty much correct. I have made 355rwhp and 377rwtq but will settle for the above numbers. Installing new valve springs and a new cam and we will see what happens with the next dyno runs.

That sucks, I remember seeing your post about it and thinking "that's a HUGE amount of power for that setup, he must be doing something right though!".
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
Custom cam and heavier valve springs. The XFI is a great cam and did a good job. However for my goal I decided to go with a custom cam this time around.
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
That was a geat idea Sea, i see what you was thinking, from the post it looks like the adv. street car with stock weight and get around 330 to 360 RWHP you got yourself a mid 12's car
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
well i know my buddy's L98 supposively put down near 250whp and he ran 13.6-13.7's in the summer heat at 99-101mph, 3.73 gears and stock converter, street tires. very similar to my car powerwise/mph wise

you mean his car is freak too what mods does he have your car always gives me hope for 12's with bolt ons my buddies stock slp ls1 auto wont pass me till he hits 3rd so i guess im doing ok
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
he had TPIS base, SLP runners portmatched, a TB not sure what size, and i think 1.6 rockers. Injectors and a custom tune. Shorty headers/catback with no cat. 3.73 gears, stock trans with stock converter. On street tires, low 1.9 60 foots. alittle bit of suspension work.
he told me about 250whp so i think it was actually high 240's. His car ran good too. It was light tho, being a lower option 89 formula L98. i dont remember but i think its a hardtop as well. with converter and sticky tires in the winter, i think his car would have gone 12's as well or darn close to it. I was running 13.88-13.9s on mid high 1.9 60 foots when i raced him. he was doing 13.67 to 13.70's. beat me by a car and a half each time. Both on street tires and my car was stock TPI then. I think 3.27 gears too. I believe my HSR would run the same times as him if i were on street tires but i never ran it on street tires
Re: Anyone have RWHP numbers to compare 1/4 mile times ?
Hey guys does anyone think this is worth a sticky, because of the helpful info for onsite of what you car will run in the quarter mile with an average RWHP.
Thanks .
