Heads and cam are sold. Looking for mid 11's this year.
My original 383 ran easy 12's and was very street friendly. I regulary drove this combo 40-50 miles to the local tracks and car shows. It ran in the 12.3 range on an average day and ran 12.02@113 in good weather.

750 Speed Demon with out of the box settings
Hooker LT's into single 3" blowmaster cat-back
27" tall slick, 3.92 gears and TH350 with a 3300 stall in my car went 12.52 @ 108mph with a 1.70 60ft on it's first pass. It ran better than I hoped for (I try not to disappoint myself on builds...) so I just left it as is and never bothered fine tuning it. Not sure how much my car weighs, probably 3350-3400lb with driver? Maybe heavier.
If my crappy car put together by myself with a crappy set of tools while drinking beer can run mid 12's anyone can do it
Generally on most days i got low 13's but i have hit 12.95 and 12.99 with 3 runs 13.01-13.02
stock long block L98 (stock cam, stock heads, stock internals) with Stealth ram intake added, 1.6 rockers, underdrive pullies, lean tune, 2800 stall/3.42 gear, full suspension, full exhaust with shorty headers
3450 lbs or so with me in it that day

I think I'll be hard pressed for 12's even with tuned LT's and more stall.
Looks like a hydraulic roller is in the works down the road
with the proper suspension setup with proper gear/converter you'll be fine to hit 12's on good weather days with low DA's

my combo is all over the place and even in my vB garage.
12.53@105.something on a 1.65 60' time. it's been 106.08mph on a 12.56 pass.
i'm going out tomorrow to test. i put the water pump drive kit on it (easy tenth) and i went to a 29x9 hoosier over the 275/60/15 m/t drag radials i was running. i'm hoping the 22lbs loss of rotating mass i just had happen from the radials to slicks is gonna help, along with keeping me in the power band a little longer (29's vs. 28's) so maybe i won't be zinging through the traps at 6500rpms anymore (hehe, more like 6400 now with some power free'd up from the water pump drive)
we'll see...in theory, the car should run 12.2's with what i've done, and the weather is supposed to be excellent tomorrow...we'll see...i'm not counting chickins...

Do you use a differant tune when the exhaust is uncorked?
Any difference in the performance between a full exhaust and the open headers?
Cold air intake.
What does your CAI consist off?
I wish my car was more efficient like some of the one's listed.

Stock 526 cast crank
PM rods

10.3 compression
Iron Pro Topline 200cc heads
Vic. Jr. intake

Best pass last year was 12.55 @112.66 on a 1.88 60ft. I changed the cam and I'm putting ET streets on the new 9 inch so I have high hopes of going 11.99. Probably wishfull thinking but with the mph and soft 60ft. I think there is alot more left in it.

Seems to me you're lacking on the 60' too. I'm heavier (3750) with less cam (218 @ 050) and smaller heads (Vortec 170cc). With a 1000 rpm over stock stall (TCI Breakaway), 3.73 posi and 26" drag radials I get a best of 1.79 60'.
A tenth on the 60' can get you two tenths in ET.
Cut outs.

Here's a pic of my y-pipe with cut-outs.
I don't use a different tune with being uncorked, but I probably should. It definenatly helps! Especially the top end!
Here is my CAI. It is made out of plumbing pipe, it is only 3" and I will be getting a 4" cai this year.

not far off from my combo and my best time so far has only been 12.89 @ 107 but the S10 converter and slipping transmission didnt help the 1.97 short time.
X2 on vortec headed setups running 12's...lets hear em'
I've posted this combo a million times, for more details do a search and you'll find the exact build... Anyway, my friend had a Vortec motor that ran 11.60's on motor in a 3500lb street driven car
Basically just a 10.8:1 400 with unported/stock valve Vortecs, super victor intake, Comp XS282, 3.42 gears, 4000 stall, 26" drag radial. Driven hundreds of miles a week on 93 octane pump gas. On a great day it'd run 11.60's and on a bad/typical day it'd run 11.70-11.80's. He sprayed it a few times with a 125 shot and it ran 10.80's @ 123mph. There was really no magic or trickery involved in this build, it was literally thrown together and run.... I'd love to one day recreate this motor and throw it into a 3000lb car
Here's my setup, It's run a best of 12.3 at 109 but hasn't been consistent because the posi went out when I got the new converter. It's got more in it, there's a bad bog right at launch right now(and the vac secondary carb).

Holley 600 vac. secondary
Headman longtubes with true duals
built 700r4
3500 stall

That's as close a combination to mine that I've seen. And you're a second quicker.
Do you know your race weight?
What's your true duals setup?
