Stall converter

I am in need of a less expensive stall converter. Do you guys know of any good ones under 350? Also how much would lets say a 2800 stall cut down my 1/4 time by?

Re: Stall converter

What's your camshaft advertised duration? You want a stall speed about 500 rpm above where it starts to make power.

Converters are one thing that you can say you get what you pay for. If you want an inexpensive converter, you get a cheap converter. If you want a good converter, you buy an expensive converter. The converter in my race car was over $1200.

Re: Stall converter

i don't know that you're going to hit a 12.9 at 101...maybe 103 with an EXTREMELY efficient package.

Re: Stall converter

I went 12.8's @ 104, with a GER 3500 convertor, I know that they don't have the best name around, and truthfully not even sure if they are still around, however it works rather well. There are alot of smaller companies out there that can do a good job as well, just start doing some research and I'm sure that you can come up with a good convertor for your needs. If all else check on ebay with ******* Transmissions, looks like it is working good for Matt.

Re: Stall converter

edge for 550 shipped i believe it is. good converter you get what you pay for

You will gain alot from the converter. you may squeak a 12.9 at 102-103. I know i barely got in at 103.8 mph but my car needed/wanted more gear and a better tune. it was lean, very lean

my car did good with 2800 on a stock TPI and then the HSR setup. 2800 should work well with you

your 13.39 at 101 was with stock converter on good sticky tires right? that is pretty good with the mods. That time will probly turn into 13.1's in same conditions with stock tune and 2800 stall on same sticky tires. Your gonna drop .1-.15 off the 60 foot for sure and that will give you atleast .2 on the big end.

And Stephen 87, your car is looking awesome with that primer flamed job!! love that look

Re: Stall converter

Red neck makes a decent converter. I've been running theirs for over 3 years. No problems so far. They sell them on ebay, and are out of Abelien Tx. They will handle trans brakes and or 02. I have one in my car and I have 1.38 60s on the motor @ 2620 race weight.
