I went to 1/8th mile track last weekend to get some base numbers. My reaction time sucked and i was running with old dry street tires so wheel spin off the line. The best for the day was 9.831 1/8th with 71.8 mph trap speed and 2.2 60ft. Are those number halfway decent for stock 1989 firebird?
It's 305TPI ,700r4, 2.73 posi. All stock except exhaust. Also could this possibly get into high 14's in 1/4th mile with better tires and different rear?
What basic mods would get me into 8's in 1/8th mile?

Nitrous would help and then you could also try moving to a 3.73 gear and adding sticky tires. 9.831 is a long way from 8s in the eighth - it's probably going to take a combination of things to get you there. Did you have fun? That's what counts.
it was fun. Not as fast as i really want to be but still fun. After i get the motor back from the machine shop it will go into the camaro and hopefully i could get it into 7's. Then i will start getting some upgrades on the bird. It's pretty good at auto-x and i can keep up or beat a lot of guys in 4th gens but on the drag strip it needs a lot of help. I did somewhat kept up with 2004 stang. He ran 9.5 in 1/8th. there was a wreck right before i went for the first run. Guy flipped a falcon over the guard rail. Got sideways on the second run, but didn't try to keep going. That's why the guy in falcon flipped, he tryed to keep going after going little sideways
the driver was taken away by an ambulance but it was announced that he is ok. The roll bar kept the rest of the roof from collapsing. It does feel weird to go on the track after somebody crashed tho.
NOS is definitely the easiet bolt-on power. Don't step to a 3.73 gear with a TPI though, they run out of wind before they really utilize it. A 3.42 is a very good gear for the LTR intake.
