i got a set of front drag springs and when i tried to run them the front of the car wasnt heavy enough so it sat up high.
so i just went back to stock springs
now that im redoing the car over the winter i want to put the drag springs back in,whats the best way of getting the ride hieght were i need it to be.
#1 cut the front springs to drop the car back down
(i dont know if this would work cause of how the drag springs are designed)
#2 add wieght to the front of the car ( i belive the car is about 130- 175#'s to light in the nose for the springs)
I have trick springs on my camaro. I got them used from mw66nova, he cut a coil off. They make my car sit an inch or 2 lower than stock, and they transfer weight well at the track.
cut the springs.. adding weight is like the opposite of what the springs are made for.. you get the springs to help the front pop up faster but at the same time you weight it down..

I put moroso trick springs in mine and i have pulled quite abit of weight off the front of mine so it sits high. I cut 2 full coils off which is what i hear the max they recommend it looks better now still a lil high for me. Does anyone know if one more coil will hurt? It transfers great now.

Cut 1 full coil off. If possible jack up the rear wiith the front on the ground and keep it like that for a couple weeks. This will help the springs settle then get it aligned.

i know adding wieght would be bad,but i have the lightest springs they make.
my understanding is that the coil compresses and stores energy to lift the front on launch.
so my thinking was if i add wieght the springs would compress more and have more stored energy
was also thiking thast by cuttin coils i would lessen the amount of stored energy in the spring to send the nose up on launch.
but since u guys say cutting the coils wont have any ill effects on the way they work that is what i will do
What brand are they? A local guy races stock suspension 1st gens and they cut 2 coils on moroso springs before ever seeing how its gonna look. I know for a fact that with them you will be just fine going that far. If you cut 3 idk? I may try it before i put coilovers on and see. Also give it a lil time the car will settle some from driving or just sitting.

I use the BBC trick springs and never cut them. My ride height is fine. I'd actually like to have the front ride height a little higher. You don't want the front of a stock style suspension car sitting on the ground. The race cars you see like that are tube chassis cars. The body is sitting much lower over the chassis than normal but the chassis and the ride height is still high under the body.
Although my front tires look like they're up in the fenders at rest, when I launch, the front end goes to full extension and there's a huge gap between the wheel and fender.

true you dont want it slammed but it doesnt have to sit like a 4x4 to store energy and transfer weight. My car sits about like yours in the pic after cutting 2 coils. with radials no **** it hooked in a puddle on the return rd at orlando.. just my .02

im not trying to drop the front of my car, with the trick springs installed with no mods the front end is way to high, i just want to level the car off a bit.
dont forget im running an engine that is 200 pounds lighter then what these springs were meant for
if it wasnt for the fact that the car looks goofy id just use them as is.
i just want to get it so the car is pretty much level when sitting still
I cut a coil and a half off of mine, love the way it looks, hate trying to load, or jack up the front end now though. I had to make a "ramp" system out of 2x10's so that I can drive up on so I can get the jack under the car, but it still transfers great. Moroso SBC Trick Springs
Back when i had the OEM block and sbc trick springs i had to cut 1 1/4 coil off to get the ride height i was after, actually should've just left it at 1 coil since it dropped a bit more than i was after with my 27" front tires.
Now with the Dart block i HAD to switch over to BBC trick springs and the shop i let do it got them installed right out of the box somewhow LOL! but it sits perfect with my 29x9 slicks out back. take little bites, you can always take off more, but you cant add it back on.
I put the eibach drag springs under mine and it sets up too high in the front ,I hate to cut them or screw them up trying to stance "just right", I think a set of dropped spindles would be the way to go, if I could just find a used set
Stock 6 cyl springs(with 100k) in my car... my car hooks fine. But if you must run the morroso springs you gotta cut them...but they do not last long. You may want to try to find a used (junk yard) set of 4 or 6 cly springs and use a true 90/10 shock.
