They just broadcast the 2008 SCCA - American Sedan run-offs on Speed Channel this week. There were some really sick 3rd gen race cars. There was a 91-92 Firehawk (lookalike?) #09 driven by Shawn Gray, and a bunch of late 80's early 90's Camaros. I've been scouring the interwebs looking for info on these race cars, but I can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated!
Really nice pic ! They appear really great race cars!! I'm supprised by the fact that these car are not really lower than the stock Camaro... Is-it a proof that it's not really necessary lower spring !! maybe!
Continue to post pic like that, and if you have pic that shows underhood race camaro, that will be great!

You don't need to give anything. You can rent out the track.
maybe TGO members(thirdgen.org) should some how set up a member day at a track like that in each area!! Harder than it sounds i know but when the bird is finished i would love to meet and race on any legendary track like that!!!

Pls Exuse any poor spelling!!
Great idea, but when it comes to racing, I think that 99% of TGO members lack the driving skills to do anything but point their car straight ahead for 15 seconds or less.

I know... I disagree with it too... it's a sarcastic remark. You have to admit, though, that the members demographic on this site is heavily weighted towards drag racing as opposed to road racing.

That is ineresting, imho.. the car is far more suitted for road racing that drag racing. That's based on the cars cornering agility vs the way it tips the scales at 3600 lbs.
I know when I buy used parts I aviod road racers stuff, just because the life is ran out of it ie rod, cranks, pistons ect, ect. So I wonder if drag racing is just a less expensive way of having some fun?
Maybe it is marketing and kownledge of the 2 sports. I think most poeple would want to know what they can do in the 1/4 or 1/8 over what G they pull in the corner.
I love both but have only drag raced. I have been to willow springs but never raced there. I was invited to a private track event I think is march 12 or 13th.....2 cents
and really, our cars (3rd gens at least) were designed more as a sports car than a Muscle car. GM really did quite a good job on the suspension setup, they ride nice, and still handle quite well
That's perfect pic from autocross ! The goal it's to see all possible ThirdGen in action and these Thirdgen with more detail (mecahnics, body, suspension...) And the best, pictures from ThirdGen.org Car's member !!
My car was bone stock when all these photos were taken. I have yet to race with any of the changes I made. It will be an interesting season this year considering I almost took the win in my class last year... 1.JPG4.jpg5.jpg
Check out my sig and garage here or click my sig picture to look at my CarDomain page for a build log and other details on my car.

That was also when I had to have a parent with me in the car at all times because I was a minor (that's my dad in the passenger seat). 11 more days until I can solo solo! lol Talk about a weight savings...

dang!!!!!!!!!!!!! that camaro is very nice. Dude that makes me want to build my other camaro into a race car. Does that ranger have problem towing the camaro? That car is exactly what i was looking for.
Thanks. There's more pics in the link right below that picture.
The motor will be a dissappointment to those that don't know the CMC ruleset. Stock 305 TPI, 180k+ miles. My talent is still playing catchup. Once there I'll get it rebuilt.
It's my first build and I learned a few things here and there that I'ld do differently, like NASCAR bars simply for ease of egress.
Bought the Ranger new in '01. At the time didn't think I'ld be needing it to haul a racecar around. Knocker, the camaro, was street legal when it came into the picture. Last two years, the Ranger just barely and no more pulled the trailer/car. Trailer is only a 16' open deck steel with weight dist hitch. Truck is a 4.0L auto, max towing cap for that year. Flat lands were ok, hills had to kill the A/C. Last May I got a '01 2500HD. Big difference.
255/50R16 TOYO RA1's last year, TOYO R888's this year (Spec tires).
Our next race is April 18th weekend at Texas World Speedway in College Station. Saturady has an 8hr enduro after lunch (that I won't be participating in) and 2 CMC races on Sunday.
If you look at the first picture I posted of my car, you can see that I pulled a wheel. It is hard to see because of the cone on the other side of the tire preventing light from going under, but it's off the ground.
