Screw the stock bumper supports. Customize a little electrical conduit to keep it supported properly and let it ride. - If you're gonna swiss-cheese 'em, thay ain't going to do anything in an accident anyway.

i still run fog lights, and i want a good mounting point for my lower valance.
i know the conduit works. i helpe a buddy do one out of solid round stock and tacked it all in place.
im just worried it will get wavy.
Conduit plus some strips of thicker gauge tin in a few places. My nose is hung by a cross bar at the front of the fenders, which in turn has two legs coming off towards the front that rest in the leading edge, right beside the ehad light pockets. THey each have two leg standing up that weld to a sectioned piece of thin angle iron that is screwed in the top lip at the factory mounting point. Very simple, very light and has not had any issues in a couple years now.
i'd be interested in pics shag as i don't have a bumper support under my nose at all and i don't want it to start sagging. though the sportcoupe front bumpers seem to be a little more stout than the gfx cars...

thats back before gm got skimpy with materials.
my buddy had an 83, and i swear your could kick it and not spider the paint.
it was like steel.
one thing i regret is buying an aftermarket bumper cover.
if it makes you feel any better, the front/rear bumper cover and front fenders on my car are OE 1987 sportcoupe stuff, not sure if that was when they started skimping or not...

OE 86 sc stuff on the 10.5 car. - I'll get some pics this week and post them up.
Here you go boys, don't mind the nasty(literally) mustang in the background:
Just for reference, this is the hooks that the frame slips onto to hang the front clip, which are welded to the cradle that the radiator and fuel tank are mounted on, along with the fuel pumps. The cradle comes off as well, 4 bolts and a plug-in.
very nice! what kinda of headlight covers and mounts are your using there?
Homemade Motorsports. - Almost everything on this thing was done by me. The car was basically just backhalfed and 12-point when we got it. I re-did the rear suspension and added a couple pipes, re-did the funny car cage, "front-halfed" it, added a crap load of misc cage pipes, lowered the car 5" in the process of everything, moved the fuel cell to the front, moved the batteries to the center, completely rewired and plumbed it, etc, etc, etc. If it weren't for the fact that 90% of what was there is the way I would have done it, I would have just built a new car. I actually already had the roller to do so when I inherited(literally) this car.
oh do tell. Im guessing aluminum for bracketry? What material did you use for the cover and what did you use to shape it? i am most interested in making my own as well, i dont care for the storebought covers

1/8" lexan with gloss black spray paint on the backside, 1/2" hardware store aluminum angle for mounts. Two pieces of angle for each cover, 4 rivets per angle; two through the bumper, 2 through the covers each. I put tape on the lexan, laid it against the nose and traced a marker line from the back side, then just cut them out with a jig-saw. - Very simple, very functional. However, those are full headlights in the parking lamp holes, not just fog lights.
this angle shows it a little better, I don't really have any pics that specifically focus on them:
The lexan I used was some old stuff we had laying around, it was a bit overly scratched up, so it made them a little more "cloudy" looking than I would have wanted, but the car is going to get a trans-am nose when we finalize the blower combo in it anyway.
Who sells a 295 65 15 tire size? Is it easy to find?
mickey thompson or hoosier both make that size in production.
bfg used to, but im not sure if they do anymore.
cant compete with the grip of the m/t anyway.
jegs, summit, and also madman racing is a dealer for them.
you can get them bout anywhere.
