still need to adjust the lca's in a bit to center the tire up, but all is good.
lil hammering on the front of the wheelwell by the lca, and had to beat in the spare tire area just a touch, but you can tell anythings changed.
everything is tucked. no fender rolling needed.
wheel/tire package is a lil tricky to get in place. i might cut the bumpstops off. not sure.
295/65 MT radial.
wheel is 15x8.25 with a 5 3/8 BS

there is no doubt that you are right up there. some people dont like that round sidewall look but i think it looks great. very nice. what are you running up front? i sure did not think that 295 65 would fit. hey i cant even find a 295 65 on the charts. that is some tire. what is the diameter?
Looks great man. Are those the wheels you had, or any particular reason to not go to a 15x10? Just curious. Obviously, you'll have to play with pressure a bit more-so than normal to find what they like, but no biggie. - I'd still roll the lip just to make sure some craptastic FL highway doesn't f* up a sidewall for you.
Also, what size were you running before? Can't remember off the top of my head.
Tony_c....... iirc they're around a 28" or 29" diameter. The size only exists in drag radials as far as I know. MT and BFG both make it, probably Hoosier as well.

running a 28x7.5 sportsman pro up front with the forged version of the rear.
the tire is 30" with a section width of 11.9. its rollout is 94 inch.
same size as the 315/60, just a touch narrow, bout an inch.
no way i could fit a 315 unless i had a different wheel or mini tubbed the car.
its possible to fit it, but it would have to be jacked up and the tire sticking out. GROSS!
shag- its the same wheel as before. i ordered them with a lil more backspacing because i knew i was going to go with a 29" tire later down the road.
id have went with a 10" wheel, but i cant seem to find a good backspacing to clear the car and still tuck.
ross seams to have pulled it off with his holeshots, they look awesome.
going to go adjust on the control arms this afternooon and see if i can make it look a lil more pretty.
its clears now, just looks goofy.
got the lcas adjusted out and centered up the rear.
moving the tire forward caused a bit of an issue.
about 20 minutes of constant pounding in the front.
now i know why guys mini tub for big tires.
you can only bang on so much sheetmetal before it turns into multiple sheets, then subframe. i dont have a torch at my house or it would have been much easier if i had some heat to it.
sledge finally wore it out, AND ME.

awesome lookin' stage! i'm wanting to go up to a 295/65 mainly for the look (cause we all know i sure don't need it as slow as i am) and because i don't want to pull out the gear i have in the car just yet.(4.56's) your car is definitely getting to be one of my fav's.
Looks great, i think that might be about what i use for my 89 since the 4.30 gears would like it better than the 295/50. I could keep my convo pros that are 8.5 wide too.
ill have some full shots this weekend.
blue beast..... any pics of your setup?
what backspacing wheel? i dont know how well it would tuck on a 10" wheel. i like mine under the wheelwell, not level, but thats just me.
if i stuck with the way it sits now, id have to mini tub for a 10" becuasue i dont want the wheel poking out like most 5.5/6" BS wheels.
ross i think has a 6.5" backspacing, his looks pretty killer.
each car seems to be hit or miss. good ole gm for ya.

I have run a 325/50/15 and for a 15x10 wheel a 6.5" bs is what you'd go with to make it fit correctly under the car, and granted very close to the inner fenders. Currently I have the 295/65/15's on my stock wheels which I would actually like for another 1/4"-1/2" backspace to pull them away from the outer lip, but they work. Definitely can take no more diameter at all as I have rubs on the front and rear of the wheel wells from growth at speeds taking up that 1/2" of diameter clearance I have all around.
i'm running a 15x10 with 6.5" backspacing, i'm hoping that the 295/65 would look right on my car. the 275/60's look good, but really too short for the gear i'm running.
i can garauntee you'll need rim screws with that wide of a tire on an 8.5" wheel though...i'm gonna screw my 275/60's to my 10" wide wheels cause i want consistancy, and they DEFINITELY help in that respect.

i know there are guys with much higher hp running them on 10-12" rims and screwing them. mickey thomspon suggests against it, and there is a thread over on the bullet about how screws eat up the bead.
at my power level, i dont think il have an issue, but im going to put some marker on the rim and tire anyway to see if its spinning.
mt's suggested rim size is 8.5-9.5 for the tire, i hope it all works out.
only thing im worried with is a lil sway on the big end from such a large sidewall.
never ran this tire before.
well, footbraking the car to 4100 on the line with 19 psi there was zero slip in the tires.
it was a test and tune night, which the track ususally isnt that great with all the street rubber.
5 passes, still laid down 1.38 short times. with my old 275's id hit 1.39-1.40.
the larger sidewall, i was able to tighten up my shocks, even on a less than stellar track.
dont know if im going to make it on race night tonight, but im going to try next weekend.
my 60ft is always .02-.03 better on race night. et usually couple hundreths faster too.
i was FOR SURE the larger tire would slow me down with gear and the weight of the tire.
i got lucky. i guess.

One reason i MIGHT swap, is my Convo pros are not bad, but i like the Telstars. So, if i did get them, i would probably get a 10 inch wide set.
be careful with telstars and a lot of rear spacing.
i had a set of those wheels and had to grind rear brakes.
wtf? there is a big lip inside all of the wheels.
5"BS and more will land you in trouble.
convos have a lil more room. telstars are more appealing to the eye.
convo pros are 80's wheels, but still look good on the right setup.
car is dirty from the track, but here are some shots.

Damn it, thanks for the info, i have LS1 rear brakes and the caliper is ground for the 15s, but i think i would be in trouble with the telstars then, damn....
Car looks ready as ever man, i think that might be the route i go.
Car looks down right nasty!!!! You adjusted the LCA's to center the tire in the wheel well but does that change your suspension geometry or anything else? Im not sure how to adjust the adjustable LCA's so thats why im asking. Thanks for the help and again the car looks great man!

mine are on car adjustable, so i just turned them by hand once loosening the jam nuts and thats pretty much it.
it does change the suspension geometry a bit, so you need to go back and check the torque arm if you have an adjustable unit.
i shortened up the wheelbase about 3/4 of an inch.
thats a good thing.
i ALMOST pulled the trigger on a burkhart yesterday, got a panhard on the way and if i was able to weld the CM crossmember in i would have. still might i do know a welder and he'd probably do it for a 6 pack lol. and it might tear some stuff up being solid mounted in the front...

the front has a slider built into it so it wont bind.
id love to have a burkhart setup. the spohn just gets in the way of everything. with my ehaust, i would do a custom crossmember, though.
the one they offer fits 4th gens, or they can send you a piece of tubing for a universal setup.
this spohn mild steel one weighs a ton, i bet i could get another few pounds off the car with the burkhart piece.

you pretty much can't put that much backspacing into these cars without atleast trimming the bumpstops off. mine is on a 6.5" backspacing and had i not cut the stops off then i'd have killed the inside of the wheels already.
...and as I said over there, now that you've got the tires squeezed in, get that plate-kit squeezed in!
There's a thread about wheel screws on YB that list the company that makes some pretty trick little inserts that don't damage the wheels and are more consistent in how they lock into the tire than screws. iir they called qwuickserts
To check for slippage, put a shoe polish line on the tire that corresponds to the valvestem.

thanks man.
no issue with slippage. used a window marker and im good.
picked up a leak with both tires though.
i still have a few things to do. car still has both bumper supports in tact.
im going to cheese the rear one, and ive scored an aluminum front one im going to holesaw up as well.
ive been thinking about stepping up the gear some more, but dont know if i want to cruise slower. its gonna go faster. intake will be ported within the next month or so as well.
