im building up my firebird for street and strip and was wondering how big of a tire i can cram back there without having a clearance issue. if this is the wrong area im sorry but i didnt find a tires section.
go to the bottom of this section of the forum and look for the post by stage20 that is titled "295/65 dr mounted up." I would say that this is the biggest tire you can reasonably fit. he has wheels with a special made backspacing but i think it is worth it because it looks so good.

a 28x10.5 tire will fit under these cars pretty good without major beating and banging. Most don't go more than 5.5" back spacing with a 10" wheel. I run 9" wheels with 5" back spacing and a 29.5x10.5 tire. Had to do a little work to make them fit but nothing major.
like stated before me, 28x10.5 fits without too much trouble, also running a 9" wheel with 5.5 back spacing...10" wheel with 5.5" backspacing looks nasty to me but for each their own...
