Shooting for mid to high 11's

Anyone with a mid to high 11 second car have any suggestions on heads, cam, and gears to break into 11's on a full weight T/A with a 350?

AFR 195 eliminator heads will help a lot. gearing should be 4.10 ish. and a decent roller cam will be fine. search around here for builds and combos.

Re: Shooting for mid to high 11's

with my 383 i should be there this year, but just have to find some time. I have 200cc heads with a ZZ409 cam and 3.90 gears. It may be a little harder to do it with a 350

dart iron eagles, solid flat tappet camshaft (24x*/25x* @ .050) dual 2.5" exhaust, 'glide w 3500 stall, 4.56's and a 28" tall tire went 11.78 @ 117mph.

oh yeah, only 355 ci, 3400lb race weight

Re: Shooting for mid to high 11's

A good combination would be a

- flat top pistons
- Cam - should be 240's duration @.050 with mid .500's lift w/ 1.6 rockers
- AFR 195's part # 1040 ( or good flowing head if AFR is to much $)
- Hooker 2210's (1 3/4 long tube)
- 3500 stall 10 " torque converter
- 3.90 or 4.10 gears

should do the trick.

Re: Shooting for mid to high 11's

Thanks I've been lookin at a few combos buts its good to get some input from some people who have actually done it. I like mw66nova's idea of the dart iron eagles since they're cheaper than AFR's. I have a built TH350 trans right now but i've been wondering how well will the 10 bolt hold up? Should I go for a 9 inch or 12 bolt instead?

Re: Shooting for mid to high 11's

I had a 383 with AFR's, stealth ram, decent sized hyd. roller, 700r4 with 3600 stall and 3.42 gears on stock 10 bolt from 2000 Trans am. Went 11.47 at 118-119 in the heat of july. Would easily go 11.3's with more tuning/better launch. Thats abit overkill but gets the job done.

GTA Matt on these boards has a Stock bottom end L98 with AFR 195's, miniram intake, and had a 224/230 cam and I believe has gone 11.9's at 114. Since upgraded to a Advanced Induction cam, i believe teh 226/234 cam which is a better cam and has got more tuning to go but has gone 12.0's so far last i seen. More left in it for sure.

Thats just a stock bottom end L98 with intake/heads/cam. Just abit more cam, abit better air, Th350 with good converter and you should have mid higher 11's with a mild 350. I'd get good heads tho like those AFR 195's or close equivalent like brodix IK200's, race rite 200s, dart pro 1 200 platinums, canfield 195's (which i hear are same heads Jegs resells for cheaper) or possibly trick flow 195's but i havent been too impressed with those heads. Havent seen alot of combos with the others either.

Doesnt take a whole lot to get there, need around 375-390whp to be mid higher 11's. I put down 392 very very hot engine temps so I figured 400-405whp cool

And here you have one of the fastest 350's i've seen with those parts. Great example of a 350 at work

Check out my sig. I'm hoping to get there with some tires. I just have to figure out why my T56 is grinding while in 4th gear and the clutch pedal down to the floor...

Re: Shooting for mid to high 11's

If you have a built bottom end then 11's with a 350 isnt really hard. A good set of heads (i'm partial to AFR's) and a 240 to 250 duration cam with mid 600 lift cam and the ability to turn 7000 to 7500 rpms you could run some bottom 11's all day. However i'm handicapped by a stock bottom end and no rev kit for the valvetrain so I think I've about maxed out a stock 350. 11.9's to 12.0's right now in the heat of summer, 3430 lbs.
