What's holding me back?

Ive been reading some of the threads on here on builds similar to mine, and while I am happy with my first shakedown runs at the track I noticed that I'm not gaining near as much mph between then 1/8 and the 1/4 as some people are. I'm wondering if it's the 700r4?

I don't have the slip with me at the moment, but here's what I know for sure:

1.67 60ft
1/8 mile mph:90.xx
1/4 mile mph: 108.44
1/4 mile ET: 12.26

Combo in sig. oops, looks like I left out that I have 3.70 rear gears.

I know that on the street, the car feels like an absolute monster mashing the gas in 1st or second gear. On the highway, in third, it doesn't pull as hard as I'd expect, based on how it feels everywhere else. Any suggestions?

Re: What's holding me back?

Single 4" exhaust on a 355 is way too big. 3" would be more than enough.

MPH increase from 1/8 to 1/4 is always low. Even I only gain 26-28 mph.

The shorty headers and y-pipe could be holding him back tho.

Re: What's holding me back?

Mine picked up 23.41 mph from 1/8 to 1/4 on the 11.81 run.

Stephen, I'd have to disagree on the exhaust size. I ran single 3 inch and it choked the engine bad. Actually chopped it off at the track and it picked up.

Re: What's holding me back?

Actually I figured it out. I was shifting too late on the 2-3 shift. I lowered the shift point from 6500rpm down to 6200rpm, and went 112 mph after going 89 mph in the 8th. Unfortunately a new best was impossible as the track prep was non-existent and I spun out of the hole all day. I know this typically means a higher trap, but I ran LESS mph in the 8th and more at the 1/4 traps. I was also cutting 2 tenths more ET out of the 1/8-1/4, compared to my last trip, when I nailed the 2-3 today, so if I get another 1.6x 60ft day out of the track I'm going to be damn close to an 11 sec pass.
